Don't Give Just Rhetorical Support For Transition Plan, Says Hishammuddin

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 23 (Bernama) -- All Umno state liaison committees must ensure their support for the leadership transition plan in the party is not mere rhetoric, said Umno Youth chief Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.
He said all quarters can state their stand but must be able to ensure the same can be translated at the grassroots level.
"I worry if we continue to voice our support but tomorrow or later we do a U-Turn, It will cause chaos in the party. I suggest to those voicing support (for the plan) not to engage in rhetorics because the grassroots are not people who do not understand politics," he told reporters after launching Malaysia's book catalogue for the Frankfurt Book Fair 2008 here Tuesday.
He was commenting on the statements by the Kelantan and Penang Umno state liaison committees favouring the transition plan which will see Prime Minister and Umno president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi handing over the reins of the party to his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in June 2010.
"The leadership can only suggest, guide or make recommendations, but like it or not, the wishes and sentiments of those below must be respected," Hishammuddin added.

tunku : i wish to salute hishammuddin for his comment on this.what he said is 100% correct.the leadership can't make decision on behalf of the members.

Bravo Hashimah, finally something manly from you.
If you ever become PM, you'll be the mirror image of Dolah.
For the sake of agama, bangsa and tanahair, I am praying that it will never happen.
You can know a man without a backbone when you see one.
Just like Dolah.

Salam Tunku,
I'm personally find it unbelievable that most of the politician in UMNO has made a big U-turn in their decision and also in their statement to press. The fire starter : Muhyiddin and Tun M telling of returning to UMNO.
Not to say that this is not good, but as a human being who is never satisfied, I find it will be much much better if they state their opinion in the first place and avoid the other brick in the trust-wall circling the government from tumbling down one by one.

If this is truly their believe, good and let it be. But all this statement merely a political-saving agenda, say your prayer.

i'm sure Hishamuddin said that because of some certain political agenda.why before he this
keep mum about the whole idea of power transition?

so what if the leadership of UMNO Kelantan and Penang pledged their support for the power transition?is it Hishammudin feels insecure already?
