There's Hatred Within Pakatan Rakyat Towards Anwar, Says Nik Aziz

KOTA BAHARU, Aug 8 (Bernama) -- PAS Spiritual Leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat revealed Friday that there were elements of hatred in Pakatan Rakyat which are out to sabotage Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the Permatang Pauh parliamentary by-election on Aug 26.
The Kelantan Menteri Besar said the elements were trying to undermine the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader's chances of winning the by-election.
"I reckon that there are indeed people who are envious of Anwar," he told reporters after opening the state-level MATTA Fair 2008, organised by the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents, here.
The Permatang Pauh by-election is held following the resignation of Anwar's wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, to make way for him to re-contest the seat. The nomination day is on Aug 16.
Nik Abdul Aziz urged those harbouring such hatred to forget about their intentions for the sake of Pakatan Rakyat.
"Give Anwar a chance to become a member of parliament," he said.
Nik Aziz said even though PAS and PKR had different political ideology, PAS would support PKR in the by-election in the spirit of cooperation within Pakatan Rakyat.
"PAS should support Anwar even though we are hardly similar in political ideology," he said.
Nik Abdul Aziz said he would support Anwar because the PKR advisor was a Malay leader who had wide experience in the country's administration and was well-known in the international arena.

tunku : i guess those people have some brains, that's why they don't like anwar or want anwar to be the opposition leader. just imagine a new party is leading the old party which has more members and better leaders.may be nik aziz is too old to understand now.why should pas support anwar when he is totally different in political ideology.for pas to accept anwar as their leader is to accept his idealogy too.

Clearly Nik Aziz is putting politics above religion. He cannot differentiate between good and evil.He is very similar to Anwar being idolised by fanatics.

I can't understand, of all people, Nik Aziz, would still want to support Anwar. Similarly, Wan Azizah, if there is one person who can really bring down Anwar, its Wan Azizah. If she were brave enough to say, enough is enough and do something about it, brave enough to put country's interest above her own and family's interest, many people who are supporting anwar now will start to think twice. It may turn out ot be a fatal blow. History will judge her as one of the Malaysia's greatest women. But if only....
