Rafidah May Have To Fight To Retain Post, Says Muhyiddin

KUALA TERENGGANU, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- Wanita Umno head Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz should get herself ready for the possibility of being challenged in the movement's polls in December, Umno vice president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.
He said that although Rafidah and her deputy, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, had agreed in principle to effect the handover of leadership in June next year at the latest, it was members who had the absolute right to determine their leaders.
If Shahrizat obtained sufficient nominations to vie for the top post, she could not just dismiss them, he said.
"It is not that I am telling her to contest. What I mean is that in any situation, not only in Wanita, Youth, Puteri or at the division, it was members' right to nominate any leaders they want.
"The leaders can of course say there is a transition plan but if members have a different opinion, no one can stop them. Perhaps, the members know better who is the leader they want," he said after briefing Terengganu Umno leaders on ethics here Sunday.
Asked whether he would contest for a higher post should he get enough nominations, Muhyiddin said he would not. He said he would only defend the post he was holding now. He said he had clearly stated his stance and would not retract it.

tunku : what muhyiddin is trying to tell the umno members is to ignore the power transition arrangement even for the president and deputy president post. just nominates who you want.umno should not accept this arrangement as it would set as a trend.umno members should change this once and for all. so branches, do your part and make sure the divisions listen to your voices. don't let the divisions manipulates your voices.

jgn jadikan budaya serah jawatan kpd org tertentu dlm umno. buruk akibatnya nanti. org dah semakin meluat dgn umno. jgn kuburkan umno.
kembalilah kpd perjuangan asal umno, bukan perjuangan keluarga badawi.

Yup. Even thought the power transition may eventually happen in the future, the members have the absolute right to determine their leaders.

Why cant the UMNO supreme council suggest a survey what really the members want? power transition or the members decide the top posts to lead the party.
Tapi demokrasi lepas tu ada power transition?

When a leader was elected, it DOES NOT come with the right for him/her to nominate anyone to succeed him/her. When the time comes for him/her to retire, let the election process determines the successor.
