Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin
Yassin wants a task force formed to monitor the construction work
progress of the Bandar Universiti Higher Education Hub here.
He said the task force could ensure every construction phase of the
tertiary education institution at the education hub was completed on
schedule.
"We need to set up the task force to be updated on the work progress of
all the development phases of the higher education institution.
"If there are problems, we can take immediate action to sort out the
problems so that work will not be delayed," he said when opening the
temporary campus for Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia at Taman Pagoh
Jaya, here.
The bandar Universiti Higher Education Hub is being jointly developed
in collaboration with the Higher Education Ministry and Sime Darby Bhd
on a 204 hectare site in Jorak Mukim, here.
The RM992.6 million facility is being built under the Private Financing Initiative (PFI).
The four tertiary learning institutions being built under the first
phase are Bandar Universiti Higher Education Hub, International Islamic
University Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Research Centre and
Pagoh Polytech.
The institutions, slated for completion in 2016, can accommodate about 10,000 students.
Muhyiddin said opening of the education hub, which is regarded as the
"valley of knowledge", could develop human capital to meet the manpower
demand in various economic and industrial sectors.
The Deputy Prime Minister, meanwhile, praised the Bandar Universiti
Higher Education Hub for being the earliest tertiary learning
institution to provide feedback to open a campus at the education hub
here to cope with the increasing number of students at the main campus
in Parit Raja, Batu Pahat.
"I hope the Bandar Universiti Higher Education Hub will be the pioneer
to have taken the first step for the long-term plan to transform the
institutions at the hub into excellent centres of tertiary education and
leading education hubs," he said.
