Malaysians took to Twitter to express their condolences over the
bombings at the finish line of the Boston Marathon Majors Series.
"Boston Marathon" and #prayforboston reached the trending list for Malaysia on Twitter within hours of the incident.
Chin
Ann, a runner who is set to run in The North Face 100 marathon in
Baguio, Philippines this weekend, said he would observe a minute of
silence at the starting line.
"The joy of running a marathon will never be the same again. #PrayForBoston," he tweeted yesterday morning.
He noted on Twitter that there were nine Malaysians who had participated in the Boston Marathon.
Meanwhile,
user @geoffyeow tweeted, "Soon the dust shall settle before the hunt
begins for the people who did this. Until then, #prayforboston."
Aric
Ting also expressed his shock at the incident, and tweeted
"#PrayforBoston From us here in Malaysia. What a tragic tragic event. My
hearts and prayers go out to the family and friends of victims."
One
of the world's most-storied sporting events, the Boston Marathon saw
approximately 23,000 participants, with tens of thousands of spectators.
Two
bombs ripped through the crowd at the finish line, killing three
people, and injuring more than 100 in what a White House official said
would be treated as an "act of terror".
It is said to be the worst bombing on US soil since security was tightened after the Sept 11, 2001 attacks.
