Muhyiddin confirms Dr M returning to Umno

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has confirmed that former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is returning to the party.
He said that Dr Mahathir expressed his intention to return to Umno at a meeting last Saturday.
He added that he informed Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Monday of Dr Mahathir’s intention to rejoin the party.
Dr Mahathir, who has been a vocal critic of his hand-picked successor Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, quit Umno in May, saying that he would only return to Umno when there was a leadership change.

Muhyiddin: I've invited Dr M back to Umno

Umno vice-president Muhyiddin Yassin today said that he had invited former party president Dr Mahathir Mohamad to rejoin Umno to help "fix the problems" afflicting the party.
"I persuaded him to rejoin Umno. He is considering it," Muhyiddin told reporters this morning at a function in Kuala Lumpur.
Muhyiddin is the third-most senior Umno leader after the president and his deputy, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Najib Abdul Razak respectively.
Muhyiddin said that he was invited by Mahathir to his residence last Saturday to express his concerns over the problems besetting Umno after the ruling party's unprecedented setback in the March 8 general elections.
"I told him that if he wanted to fix the problems, he should then come back," added the international trade and industry minister.
He said that he was now waiting for Mahathir's aides to officially submit his membership form again to the party.
When asked if his invitation to Mahathir would be well-received by other Umno leaders, especially those who have been at the sharp end of Mahathir's criticisms, Muhyiddin was confident that would not be an issue.
"When he left, many let him go with a heavy heart. I am sure they would now welcome him back to the party," he added.
Mahathir quit the party on May 19 after expressing disgust with Abdullah's leadership. He said he would return only after Abdullah had been replaced by another leader.

tunku : the question is when? i am sure that they had persuaded tun to rejoin umno as tun can help umno and bn to overcome the current problems they are facing. tun can bring back peace to the party.the other question will be, is najib ready to fight pak lah this december or kuli ?

This is not a good solution. When will we ever be able to stand and correct our own mistakes without having to resort to 'mencilok' the veterans?

pleomax,

Sarjan,

i'm sure Dr.M will not just offer his advice but also his reputation as well.as we all know Dr.M is highly respected in UMNO.so i'm sure Dr.M gonna use his influence so that UMNO people will support his people.

but bear that in mind that Dr.M used to announce that he will only be joining UMNO after the new leadership took over.means that he will join UMNO when Datuk Seri Abdullah left his seat on vacancy.

but Mahathir people should not too excited.Mahathir only express his intention to rejoin UMNO and havent made up his mind yet.please see the bigger picture.

muhiyiddin kata "onfirmed that former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is returning to the party"

tapi Sanusi Junid kata "declined to confirm if Mahathir, who still wields enormous influence in Umno, would rejoin the party"

I am just so happy he is coming into the 'scene' again. Tak kira lah, advisor pon sudah kira bagus. Alhamdulillah semoga ada banyak lagi perubahan dalam Umno dan harapkan mereka yang 'dol' tu dengar lah nasihat dari yang berhormat Tun. He is the best so far. Semoga Allah panjangkan lagi umor Tun untok membuat amal kebajikan. Amin.

I have a lot of respect for Dr M. During his 22 years as PM I believe
he may have made mistakes but it's OK for all those great stuff he has done for the country.
However, he should not be forgiven for appointing Dolah as his successor. He should be made responsible for all those mistakes and problems that Dolah have created.
