BN Leaders Agree Stern Action Be Taken Against Ahmad

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 (Bernama) -- MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting said he was satisfied with the outcome of the BN Supreme Council meeting held to discuss alleged adverse remarks made by Bukit Bendera Umno chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail.
Saying the alleged remarks by Ahmad had hurt the feelings of the Chinese community, Ong said all the component parties in the coalition were given the opportunity to speak freely about it.
"All the component leaders views have been taken seriously by the whole BN supreme council. The Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) and Deputy Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) took our views with a very open mind and in a sincere discussion.
"All of the component parties agreed that the situation should be handled carefully because he (Ahmad) is talking on racially sensitive issues. I think today we have achieved a very good discussion and that is why I can say the rest will be taken up by the Prime Minister," he told reporters when approached after the meeting.
Ong, who is also the former Housing and Local Government Minister, said the MCA had provided constructive feedback about the issue.
"The Prime Minister said appropriate and firm action must be taken (about it)," he said.
MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy said the Prime Minister would be making an announcement on the action that would be taken against Ahmad very soon.
"We (component parties) were unanimous that something must be done about him (Ahmad)," he said.
Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah president Tan Sri Joseph Kurup said the meeting viewed seriously the points that were raised.
He said that after 51 years of independence, the appropriate mechanisms must be put in place to ensure actions that could adversely affect the prevailing harmony did not recur.
Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Datuk Seri Joseph Pairin Kitingan said Sabahans shared the same sentiment.
"Yes, they all feel the same, just as here (in the peninsula)," he said.
MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said Ahmad should be severely punished for making remarks that smacked of racism.
"It is up to Umno on what type of action to take against him," he said.
The issue boiled over when Ahmad refused to apologise for remarks he made during a campaign rally for the Permatang Pauh by-election last month in which he said the Chinese in Malaysia were "immigrants" and as such not entitled to equal rights as citizens.

tunku : let see if pak lah has the guts to take action against ahmad ismail later today or will we see him making flip flop decision again.as for me, ahmad ismail should be punished, not only him but whoever is talking on racially sensitive issues.we are enjoying a peace life in malaysia all these while, don't lose it just because of some politician agenda.if there is no longer political stability in this country, i am sure no one is going to invest in malaysia any longer.our economy will be as bad as the third world country again like we were before.then we will become like indonesian, going abroad to work as labourers.no one is interested about malaysia anymore. is this what we want ? we have to seriously ask ourselves.at that time anwar won't be here to help , he will be the first to run abroad.so do the rest of evil politicians.right now malaysia passport is number 9th sought after in the world.just imagine that.so be grateful and live peacefully together like before.don't let people like anwar and others ruin our lives , torn our country apart and divide us all.
