PEKAN, Sept 15 (Bernama) -- Umno supreme council member Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad said Monday any change to the country's leadership transition plan should be decided in the same manner the plan was first agreed upon.
"The transition plan was decided and agreed upon by the Umno president and his deputy, and the supreme council had also unanimously accepted it," he told reporters after launching a distribution system for subsidised items here Monday.
Shahrir, who is Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister, was asked on the transition plan which had been the subject of intense discussion among party members of late.
This follows Umno Vice-President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's statement last week that the timeframe for the leadership change in 2010 was too long.
Under the plan, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will hand over power to his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in June 2010.
tunku :who suppose to lead umno should be decided by it's members, not the supreme council.the curtain is closing fast on umno, so it must act now before it's too late.if pak lah really loves umno, he should go now.he is a burden to umno and bn.he should realize that but will he? self interest comes first.

In this Holy month of Ramadan, we have been told that Satan is in chains but his mischief continues by actions of his kuncus and by his great influence. The timeless story of how and why Satan was caste out of Allah’s grace is of most significance in our way of life. The refusal of Satan to submit to Allah’s command in respect of Nabi Adam represents Satan’s ego, pride, deceit, deception, hatred, jealousy, hard headedness, selfishness etc. even though Satan was previously one of Allah’s pride angels. A person’s pride and ego normally precede his or her downfall although all of us are not saints to be without some or many of these faults. In the case of PM and his key supporters, these negative traits seemed embedded in their actions and if they continue to be so by risking and endangering the peace and stability of this country by being adamant to remain in power against the will of the majority of the people, the harder and more shameful will be their demise from politics. I hope and trust that PM and his key supporters will finally listen to the will of the Malaysian people and quickly exit in the best interest of the Nation. I also see these negative traits very strong in DSAI and therefore like Satan, DSAI too should be rejected by the people. UMNO grassroots have to demand and execute the inevitable- change the party’s top leadership.
I am most appreciative of every one of your recent postings on Islam and fasting issues as they are indeed timely and most valuable; a reminder of our true way of life which many of us seem to forget or pay little heed because of the attractions of the worldly life.
is Pak Lah really a burden to UMNO and BN or is it his haters that potray him as a burden?
many people takes advantage on the openness of the Prime Minister.even Dr.M and minister under the recent cabinet dare to mock him openly without remorse.
why can just people in UMNO accept the Transition Plan wholeheartedly?.
perhaps those who cant accept the plan do got plans of their own.perhaps they them self wanna be on top and dare to challenge the incumbent top post of UMNO.
2010 isn't that long.it's only about one year and a half from now.
