One Week, One Kampung Strategy To Win Over The People

SEREMBAN, April 8 (Bernama) -- Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the one week, one kampung strategy will help win over the peoples' trust in the ruling party.
He said the strategy was part of the state government's political recovery plan introduced last year after Barisan Nasional (BN) was returned to power by a narrow margin.
"Make it a personal campaign by meeting the people at wedding feasts and so on. We only have three years to the next general election," he said when commenting on the BN loss at the Bukit Selambau and Bukit Gantang by-elections yesterday.
Mohamad said this could be done as there were not that many kampungs in each state constituency.
He added the one week, one kampung strategy was better than holding campaigns for 2,000-3,000 people that were no longer suitable.
"The opposition never do much. They can win over the people just by complaining about clogged drains.
"They have managed to create a bad perception of the government by spreading lies. Politics is all about perception."
The menteri besar said the government and media should find a suitable strategy to counter the bad perception and not to be too dependent on hard work.

tunku : this is a very good idea and should be done by all not only by negeri sembilan's bn.pemuda umno too last time had this programme called "pemuda masuk kampung" but after "over confidence" they stopped.umno members at all level must go to the ground and help the people in their respective area.they should do weekly programme, "gotong royong" type of thing etc.they should go back to the old style which is more effective. the key word here is get close to the people and try to solve their problems.we know that we can't solve all the problems sometimes but to be there with them with moral support helps too.

Adakah strategi ini berkesan? UMNO perlu melihat demografi masyarakat kampung sekarang.

This is simplistic. Do you think the "kampong people" live in isolation in this day and age ? They have cell phones and internet now, and their children are mostly university/college graduates who keep in touch with their kampong folks. The rakyat can see a phony and will vote accordingly. MBs should treat other people with due respect, that's the way to gain THEIR respect.
