Raja Petra released on bail

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamaruddin was released on bail at 9.30 am Friday.
His wife, Marina Lee Abdullah, posted bail of RM5,000 on Thursday after her husband agreed to it.
Raja Petra had declined to meet visitors, including his wife, since Tuesday, when he was taken to Sg Buloh prison after refusing to post bail.
Marina finally managed to persuade her husband yesterday.
Speaking to reporters after he was released, Raja Petra said he had declined to meet anyone as there was not much to be done except await his trial, which is scheduled for October.
However, prison authorities urged him to seek release due to concerns over his personal safety in prison, he claimed.
Raja Petra also said he had not eaten anything since he was taken to prison on Tuesday.

Three Supporters Of Raja Petra Detained For Being Involved In Illegal Assembly

KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 (Bernama) -- Three men were detained by police Thursday night for participating in an illegal assembly held as a show of support for the editor of the Malaysia-Today weblog, Raja Petra Raja Kamarudin, who on Tuesday was charged in the Magistrate's Court with carrying seditious postings on his blog.
Dang Wangi police chief ACP Mohamad Zulkarnain Abdul Rahman said they were among a crowd of about 100 supporters of Raja Petra who had gathered at Dataran Merdeka here since 8pm to protest his arrest for sedition.
"The protestors dispersed peacefully about and hour later but the three of them were detained for questioning and were subsequently released," he said when contacted by Bernama.
He said the gathering did not have a permit from the police.

tunku : what does it means that the prison authorities urged him to seek release due to concerns over his personal safety? does it means that his life in in danger in prison? if so from what/who ? this is another way of rpk to get popular.he can claimed anything like his mentor claimed that he was poisoned in the prison but till now still alive. regarding the people who participate in the illegal gathering to show support for rpk, please take note that he is charged in court not under ISA.if you want to show support go to the court when the case is mention.

Blime me!

I thought he gonna spend all his days in jail for the sole reason of championing justice just like some of his blind supporters who claimed that the reason for RPK in declining the bail and food at the first place was to show the strength of justice and truth were much bigger and stronger than the so-called draconian rules.

Guess, he wasnt that noble and incredible afterall huh.

Now since he's out of the cage, his supporters will surely 'cry havoc! and let slip the dogs of war'...or maybe we could see a new and reformed RPK crying for a more peaceful, understanding and tolerating Malaysia...

Following RPK's words of encouragement, to those law-breakers, mind-benders and glory-hunters...BRING THEM ON.

Waiting to see what RPK will do next.

As per my comments posted today on A M Ubaidah’s blog on a related matter:

I am uncertain what game or games RPK is playing; he’s however showing to his followers he’s smarter than all. At first I thought he was playing the role of the ‘King’ in a long drawn match of chess but his game lasted only two days after realizing there’s danger rather than protection in jail; nak makan pun ada phobia. Looks likely he is merely a ‘pawn’ for somebody or something big to come. I must admit his shrewdness in galvanizing the support of bloggers and the mighty guardians or sentinels of free speech. It’s as though the sky has fallen for all these fellows all because RPK doesn’t see justice in a RM5K bail. By his behavior patterns, RPK must have taken a lot of cue from DSAI in moving human sentiments I am anxiously waiting for the disclosure of the truth RPK believes he has on the specific case.

The candle vigil looks very similar to likes of one laying him self on the road to be run down by a lorry to get public sympathy and attention while the same time recklessly frames up the truth by superimposing photographs in justifying himself as a member of parliament. What has Malaysians come too in the name of freedom and truth? I wonder what kind of “true” friend(s) is/are the vigil bearer(s); they are playing sinful politics the kind the silent majority will no longer appreciate.
