A day after Tun Dr. Mahathir quits from Umno.

Muhyiddin urges Umno members to remain calm

NEW YORK: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has appealed to Umno members to stay cool-headed, saying that hasty actions on their part following Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's abrupt quitting would jeopardise the party.
They should ask themselves whether the party's problems could be resolved by emotional decisions, the vice-president said.
"If everybody wants to quit, who is going to fight for the Malays? What about our leadership within Barisan Nasional? If Umno is seen as weak, then our Barisan counterparts won't have the confidence and faith in us and this will lead to a problem that could result in instability," he said.
However, he acknowledged that Dr Mahathir still commanded respect from many quarters, thus his resignation should not be passed off as insignificant; neither should it be viewed that Umno had gotten rid of a "problem".
Muhyiddin, who is International Trade and Industry Minister, was here for a one-day seminar on "Malaysia-US Business Opportunities".

tunku : if everybody quits (which i don't think so), then who will pak lah leads? hantu ? before the problem get so serious pressure pak lah to resign.i believe lots of umno members already deciding to quit the party not because they don't love umno but just to give sign to the current leadership of their anger and dissatisfaction. they had shown during the last general election, most of them made spoilt vote (300,000)and some did vote for opposition but pak lah and the gang had failed to read the sign and keep denying of the facts.this will be second wave.

Dr Mahathir sent shockwaves throughout the country when he announced he was leaving the party at a talk held in Alor Star, Kedah, on Monday.

tunku : i don't think those who had power and position in umno will quit.if they quit then pak lah will have no competitor in umno.for sure it will be 100% Abdullah Badawi's party. we the normal members should quit then they will realize who are they without the grassroots members.don't be surprised, pak lah will come up with statements all the mps and umno leaders backs him.if he says so then the members should quit the party immediately.
