Police Remove Ah Long Stickers, Posters

KAJANG, July 28 (Bernama) -- In their protracted fight against the 'ah long' (loan shark) menace, the police have removed over the past week, about 3,200 stickers and posters offering illegal loans in the Hulu Langat district.
Kajang police chief ACP Shakaruddin Che Mood said policemen had been instructed to destroy such stickers and posters in the district.
He said he had called about 50 telephone numbers found on numerous posters put up by the 'ah long' but those on the other end of the line gave many excuses in not wanting to meet him.

tunku : it is high time for all the council in the country to make a new law on those who putting up the stickers.it is such a mess and ugly scene.they simply stick it anywhere they like.sometimes on the road sign till we can't read the sign at all.the council should call those numbers by pretending want to take a loan. once you get the person, straight away charge him for making the town or city dirty. i wonder what makes ACP Shakarudin think that the ah long will want to see him? get rid of those stickers first.make a new law on it and charge them or put them behind bars.

In taiwan, Acts allow Govern to seek phone companies to terminate phone number. Will Malaysian telco joint in to help our street sign clean? The worst is they stick on the street name (no...), the runners are SICK and senseless...

SAY NO TO STREET STICKERS AND BANNER. LOCAL COUNCIL CAN pass their own laws and implement it themself...

tunku,
aiyaaa.. why the police do the cleaning... can't they have better way to do things... they should catch the along's runners that paste the stickers in the first place. the runners not only paste the stickers but also throw their cards to the car pouch as they wish. these runners are normally stay in the area..the police should make friendly contact with the residents and get the information.. then catch them.. these will likely solve the problem. these are their jobs.. not cleaning the stickers which are the pbt or majlis jobs..

Yes Tunku

Good idea. Should charge them for illegal soliciting, vandalism and littering.

Charge them for social disorder or something to that effect.
