Umno panel: We know who is corrupt or abusing power

KUALA LUMPUR: The monitoring committee set up by the Umno disciplinary board has identified candidates for the March 2009 party elections who are involved in money politics and abuse of power, the board’s chairman Tengku Tan Sri Ahmad Rithauddeen Tengku Ismail said.
He said the board was now in the process of gathering evidence and witnesses to facilitate investigations.
“If in the end they are found guilty, they will lose the eligibility to contest or, if they won, their victory can be nullified,” he said in a statement.
He said the board found that, of late, several candidates had been using a large number of campaign managers, lobby agents and vote canvassers to obtain nominations.
“With members of the monitoring committee all over the country, we have identified candidates who are involved in political corruption,” he said.
“There are still 49 divisions yet to conduct their meetings this weekend ... so I am issuing a stern warning to stop the practice for the sake of Umno,” he said.
Delegate meetings for the 191 Umno divisions, which started on Oct 9, are scheduled to end on Sunday. — Bernama

tunku : action is better than words. the umno disciplinary board should start taking action, enough of stern warnings.those who are involved in money politics don't care of such warnings.just take action asap and clean the party from these people.the disciplinary board need to be alert of some cases where, the other candidate lobbyist is using the other candidate's name.they want to trap them.it's happening especially in umno youth chief and deputy president contest.

totally agree with you. and if I have a million dollar right now, I would be giving out money asking to vote for other candidate so that they will have to pull out from running. a little investment doesn't hurt a rich guy wallet ;)

UMNO's discipline committee? Doesnt that sound a mere threat? If the members would adhere... why is the party still mentioning about this over the years?

Good Morning Tunku.
I agree with you. They need to stop this practice of giving warning or 'stern' warning. Everybody knows that the warning won't do anything good.

Tunku,
Jangan pulak kuman diseberang laut nampak tetapi gajah di depan mata tak nampak. Jangan ada selective prosecution.

Dear Tunku

Money politics has spoiled UMNO. It is a shame. Today, when we mention UMNO we talk about money. UMNO will not survive long if this is the trend. There are only a few to please to come to power. Those with money can go for it. Mustapha, Rais and a few others have declared that they have no money to offer, so that's it. Money talks if you want to climb up the ladder in UMNO. Mahathir has got it right....

Cepat ambil tindakan kepada mereka yang sudah dikenal pasti. Jangan biarkan perkara ini berlarutan lagi, keadaan sekarang sudah semakin tenat.
