By-election buzz in Kedah

ALOR STAR: Kedah is abuzz with speculation of a possible by-election after Barisan Nasional’s Kuala Nerang assemblyman Datuk Syed Sobri Syed Hashim was declared a bankrupt.
Deputy Registrar Najwa Che Mat declared Syed Sobri a bankrupt at a High Court hearing on Nov 3 as he had failed to settle more than RM100,000 owed to a bank.
Syed Sobri appealed against the decision on Nov 9 and the court fixed Dec 1 for the appeal to be heard.
Barisan sources said the case had been settled to avoid a by-election.
However, there was no confirmation from court officials whether the case had been settled.
State Assembly Speaker Dr Abdul Isa Ismail has submitted a letter to the Election Commission seeking its advice on the matter.
EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman confirmed receiving a letter from the Kedah State Assembly Speaker.
“I have requested my deputy (Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar) to look into it as I am not in the country at the moment,” he said when contacted in Indonesia.
Syed Sobri declined to comment.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak said it would be good if the matter was settled.
“We do not have to waste money on a by-election. We can focus our attention on state development,” he said.

tunku : this is what happened when they did not screen a candidate thoroughly before the nominations. only those who are favoured by the "boss" becomes candidates .as for kedah, the bn and umno there need a new leader, the current boss had failed miserably.

Perak also practice the same
Those favoured by the MB gets nominated during the PRU12, it does not matter any ADUN who works hard and maybe once or twice makes their stand clear on certain things gets in the bad books of MB.The MB suka suka dropped the names and change constituencies at his whims and fancies. And so the thats why Perak fell hard and we suffers cos of his bad judgement.

Kedah MB urged UMNO to settle things first among them.personally,i'm sure UMNO can handle such a little mess like this.if UMNO can take care of the mess then there's no need for by-election in Kuala Nerang.

i'm sure Kedah MB just wanna to avoid money being wasted on by-election when there are other alternative to settle things up.
