Deputy Education Minister Razali dies
KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Education Minister Datuk Razali Ismail died at the Aminuddin Baki Institute in Genting Highlands at about 6.30pm Friday.
This was confirmed by Education director-general Datuk Alimuddin Mohd Dom when contacted by Bernama today.
It is believed that Razali, 59, who is the MP for Kuala Terengganu, collapsed while playing badminton at the institute.
Alimuddin said the body would be taken to Hospital Bentong, Pahang.
Razali leaves a wife, Datin Nooraini Lob Yusoff, and five children.
A staff of the institute said Razali had been playing badminton with several staff members when he collapsed.
"He did not have any specific function there. He had come for recreation," he said.
Education Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, when contacted, said Razali’s death was a great loss to the ministry.
"I’m deeply saddened. It’s a great loss," he said in a text message.
Hishammuddin said he was at the institute and was engaged with the funeral arrangements. - Bernama
TENGKU BUDRIAH LAID TO REST
KANGAR, Nov 28 (Bernama) -- Raja Perempuan Besar Perlis Tengku Budriah Tengku Ismail, 84, who died at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) this morning, was laid to rest at the Arau Royal Mausoleum in the afternoon.
Tengku Budriah, who was also the third Raja Permaisuri Agong from 1960 to 1965, was buried at 6pm beside the grave of her late husband, Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail.
Tengku Budriah, who was the mother of the Raja Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail, died at 3.47am while hospitalised at HKL. However, how long she was hospitalised at HKL was not stated by the palace.
Among those who paid their last respects in Kuala Lumpur were the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
Before being brought to the Istana Arau here, her remains were flown on board a Royal Malaysian Air Force Hercules aircraft from the Subang Airport to the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport in Alor Star at 9.30am accompanied by Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin and Raja Perempuan Perlis, Tuanku Fauziah Abdul Rashid.
The Sultan and Sultanah of Kedah were among the Malay Rulers who paid their last respects at Istana Arau. Others included Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Md Isa Sabu and former menteri besar Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.
Terengganu Menteri Besar's Mother Dies
KUALA TERENGGANU, Nov 28 (Bernama) -- Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said's mother died at the Kemaman Medical Center at about 10.30pm Friday due to old age.
Wook Ali, 88, was admitted to the medical center a week ago.
Ahmad, the youngest of six siblings, was at her side and also were other family members, when Wook breathed last.
She would be buried at the Telok Kalong Muslim cemetery after the Zohor prayers tomorrow.
The Menteri Besar's political secretary, Wan Ahmad Nizam Wan Abdul Hamid, confirmed her death.
