KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil will not challenge Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz for the Wanita chief post in the party polls next March.After an exco meeting held Monday at the party’s headquarters here, Rafidah said the transition plan will continue as scheduled in June.
She took it as a good sign that Shahrizat has received 72 nominations for the top post because it indicated that the grassroots were ready to accept her as their leader.
“I would’ve been more concerned if they had nominated someone else,” said the Wanita Chief who received 118 nominations to defend the seat.A candidate for the post needs a minimum of 39 nominations and Shahrizat who is the deputy secured more than enough.
On Sunday, Shahrizat had said in a press statement that she wanted the leadership transition plan between her and Rafidah to be brought forward to March in line with the transition of power between Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
At the press conference after the meeting, Shahrizat explained that as a lawyer she was just putting down her thoughts into words and taking into consideration the views of the grassroots.tunku : at last rafidah had shown us what type of person she is. for the sake of the wanita members she can't resign 3 months earlier.shahrizat too had disappointed 73 divisions who wants her to go for wanita chief post. we hope that kamilia will contest the deputy chief post as 55 divisions had nominated her.she can't let them down. now is for shahrizat to act, she had lost in the last GE,if she still want to ding dong here and there let her be.

for me i think Rafidah is now on the taste of her own medicine.before this she supported the early retirement and the early power transition between Abdullah and Najib.
and now Wanita UMNO wants Rafidah to move out and gives way for Shahrizat the lead them UMNO women members.and to not suprise Rafidah refused to do so because she claimed "she's still loved by the Wanita UMNO".
It is so ez and simple. As proposed by the grassroots:
1. Shahrizat should go for Wanita UMNO challenging Rafidah. No more talk.
2. Kamilia should stick with the the No.2 post as proposed by the grassroots.
3. Sharizat could challenge Kamilia and let Rafidah win uncontested.
4. Shahrizat should not bribe Kamilia verbally not to go for No.2 as proposed by the grassroots.
5. Clearly if Shahrizat too coward to go for No.1 post as proposed she would be ended with nothing. Shahrizat should not under estimate the grassroots need. Or else Shahrizat would again end up with nothing. Same as what had happened in Bangsar.
6. What is Rafidah trying to prove to Shahrizat other than to weakening her further indirectly.
7. Shahrizat must wake up now, not next June.
kita jangan lupa juga pada Datuk Kamilia (ketua wanita UMNO bahagian Kuala Kangsar) yang telah layak bertanding jawatan Naib Ketua.dia mahu pelan peralihan itu dipercepatkan bagi mengukuhkan kepimpinan pusat pergerakan itu.dia berkata jika tempoh peralihan itu dilaksanakan mengikut perancangan asal, ia akan merugikan pergerakan itu kerana ia akan memberi kekosongan kepada jawatan Ketua Wanita dan melemahkan kepimpinan parti.
kosong kerana jawatan ketua akan dipertandingkan walaupun peralihan kuasa dipersetujui.mungkin Datuk Kamilia sudah tak sabar untuk memangku jawatan baru.hehe.
apapun,telah diputuskan semalam peralihan kuasa akan dijalankan seperti dirancang sebelum ini.namun Rafidah dan Shahrizat perlu ada kerjasama dari Kamilia kerana jika tidak akan ada pertandingan untuk jawatan Naib Ketua.
Perkara macam ni kadang-kadang sukar nak dibicarakan kerana kita tak dapat baca isi hati sebenar Rafidah dan Shahrizat... Pada awalnya mungkin mereka berdua 'bermuafakat' dalam peralihan kuasa yang dirancang tapi setelah Shahrizat mula mendapat sokongan yang memberangsangkan, beliau dah jadi lain. Sekarang ni kelu tak terkata pula sebab sokongan terhadap Rafidah juga masih kuat dan mampun menggugat kedudukan Shahrizat...Entahlah...
Shahrizat should respect the grassroot request, and i am sure she supports kamilia. Kenapa takut sangat kan singa Malaya tu, go ahead and claim yr throne as the no one post, let kamilia be no 2. Now she leaving Kamilia in a lurch... Rafidah, sudah lah tu, dah cukup lama atas tahta org pun dah meluat.Sedar lah sikit. Tak berpecah nya wanita kerana awak turun awal.
