Muhyiddin: Time to adopt new political approach

MUAR: It is time that Umno leaders at federal and state levels adopt a new political approach and serve all races, Umno vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.
“We have to begin now as we don’t want Umno to be seen as a narrow political party which only serves the Malays.
“I have directed the two Umno state representatives in the Pagoh parliamentary to serve every community from now,” he said after chairing the Pagoh Umno division meeting yesterday.
Muhyiddin, who is Pagoh Umno chief, said times have changed and Umno leaders should be more open-minded in serving the rakyat and the nation.
He urged Umno leaders to go to the ground to know the people’s problems and needs and make efforts to solve them.
Besides the economy, he added, the leaders should also look into the education and health needs of the people to ensure they continue to live in comfort.
Muhyiddin, who is International Trade and Industries Minister, also called for the leaders to increase economic activities in their areas and help the people in their business ventures.
He also urged Barisan Nasional party leaders to work as a team now to prepare for the next general election.

tunku : this was suppose to be done long time ago but anyway better late than never. umno must adopt new approaches now as their current approaches are obsolete one. not only the state representative should serve all but i think the division leaders too do the same. this will bring umno closer to people.in every division, there are bn component parties, these people should meet at least once a month to discuss and solve issues in their division.there must start doing that now.they should meet the rakyat more often.
