KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 16 (Bernama) -- The Bar Council should opt to dissolve itself if it wanted to dabble in politics, said Malaysian Muslim lawyers Association president Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang.
He said now the council was acting like an opposition party and was even questioning Bumiputera privileges.
"I advise the council to form a political party if it wants to be active in politics," he said at a law forum on bumiputera rights held at Tun Hussein Onn's Memorial here Sunday.
He also advised Muslim lawyers in the country to be united as Muslims were "under increased pressure" of late.
tunku : the bar council is acting more like a political party than a bar council itself. they should know the different between a bar council and a political party. the problem is when the members of the council are involved in political parties and they had mixed them together. i agree with abu zahar advise that they should form a political party and leave the bar council to those who will guide it to it's real objectives.
