GE13: PAS’s Lenggeng candidate Zulkefy Omar in ICU

Lenggeng state seat Zulkefy Omar has been admitted to the intensive care unit at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (KLH) after he apparently collapsed at this house in Kg Mesjid near here.
The 49-year-old former state PAS commissioner, who is making his fourth attempt in Lenggeng, fell unconscious at his home in Kg Mesjid on Friday night and was rushed to a private hospital.
He was however transferred to the KLH as his condition did not improve.
State PAS Youth chief Mohd Khairil Anuar Wafa, who is contesting the Labu state seat, confirmed Sunday that Zulkefly had been admitted at the ICU but did not elaborate.
State PAS commissioner and Paroi incumbent Mohd Taufek Ghani also declined to comment saying that a press conference would be held soonest.
It is understood that Zulkefly had suffered from high blood pressure and the intense campaigning had worsened his condition.
He had apparently campaigned at Taman Ampangan on Friday night after which his condition worsened.
It is also learnt that Zulkefly had to undergo a minor surgery at HKL and his condition was reported as stable.
His family and supporters held prayers at his home here on Saturday night for his speedy recovery.
Zulkefly, who holds a Master of Science degree from Universiti Putra Malaysia, will be involved in a three-cornered fight against Barisan's Datuk Ishak Ismail and independent Zulkifli Abdullah in the May 5 polls.
He had also contested the Bagan Pinang by-election in 2009 following the death of Barisan's Azman Mohd Noor.
However, he was soundly beaten by Barisan's Tan Sri Isa Samad.
