GE 13 : Don't Repeat GE12 Mistake By Voting For The Opposition - Najib

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Tuesday advised voters in constituencies won by the opposition in the last general election against repeating their mistake of voting for the opposition candidates again in the 13th general election on Sunday.

The prime minister said that after five years, they could see for themselves the failure of their elected representatives and also of the states ruled by the Opposition, including Kedah, but they still had a chance to rectify the situation.

"The mistake made can be rectified on May 5. You were misguided before. It's alright. It's alright to make a mistake once. Don't make the same mistake twice," he said when addressing a gathering at Padang Keda, Pekan Baru Keda, Kupang, near here.

Najib said Muslims in the country should look at Islam in a wider context because Islam is "syumul" (holistic).

"Islam is about morals. Islam is about welfare. Islam is about knowledge. Islam is not symbolised by that large moon (PAS logo). That is too convenient. Buildings are painted green. If that's not enough, even the fence is green. That is just a symbol.

"We should have an agenda to develop Islam. Islam teaches us to do good. If one has to criticise (others), one must do so properly. Don't insult, embarrass and disunite society. That is not Islam, that's evil" he said.

Najib said a responsible government would build a civilisation and it was for this reason that the BN had initiated the agenda of national transformation to realise that objective.

"(We are) unlike the (opposition) Pakatan Rakyat, which makes empty promises. They do not speak the truth. If we want to make change, there has to be a vision and the capability to translate the agenda into reality," he said.

Najib said the price of rubber in the market was declining and added that the government had instructed Risda to give aid of RM500 to every smallholder to ease their burden.

"That is why the people have more confidence in us (the BN)," he added.
