Najib To Give Focus To Party Direction And Future

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's uncontested win as Umno president will enable him to to provide focus to the party's direction and its future, said Umno Youth leader Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.
"For those of us who were not so lucky and have to contest, we must be aware that Najib will lead us after this.
"As such in this contest, we must ensure the party is not split and our relations remain in the family spirit because after this we have to close ranks and give undivided support to the new president," the Education Minister told reporters at the Parliament lobby here.
Umno information chief, Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib, hoped Najib's success could get back a large mandate from the people for the Barisan Nasional (BN) to continue as the government.
"The win is also a sign of grassroots support," said the Rural and Regional Minister.
Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Datuk Noh Omar said Najib's win showed that the transition of power was well accepted by the grassroots who really wanted unity in the leadership selection.
"The transfer of power without contest showed that what was planned was accepted by the members.
"What is hoped is that the party gets stronger and gets the big mandate from the people again," he said.
Rompin member of parliament, Datuk Seri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis, said the people of Malaysia, and not only Umno members and the Malays, felt relief that the transfer of power agreed upon became a reality.
"I believe all Malaysians will give support especially Umno members and the Malays.
"With support and the mandate as Umno president, he can make changes...after 50 years of independence, we have a new leader born after independence who has the mind and vision to brings changes for the next 50 years," he said.

tunku : najib must not forget that not only he needs the support from umno members but malaysian as well.right now we had heard from umno delegates (not 100%), we need to hear from non umno members. najib will need to work extra hard to gain the confidence and support from the rakyat.it won't come on a red carpet for him, he will have to earn it.pak lah has done lots of damages to the party and nation, now najib have to fix it in short time.

Pak Lah has done a lot of damages?or was it other people have done a lot of damages but Abdullah had to take the blame?.

Najib had easily win the seat uncontested.Ku Li only managed to gain a single nomination.

however the road aint so clear for him yet as the "traffic jam"(read:scandals)is still haunting him.if he can't clear his name before March next year,he might as well have to spell d-o-o-m to his political career.

you dont look for respect but you earn the respect.do your job well and people will recognize you and your charisma.

Najib have to prove that he's capable to run our country as our future PM.people of Malaysia still have doubts on him since there are too much contoversies surrounding him and his wife.

if Najib one day are found guilty or at least officially without any doubt that he was linked to the Atlantuya murder, then all is not good for Najib on his pursuit for the PM post.
