Khir Toyo pulls further ahead of Khairy

Former Selangor mentri besar today pulled further ahead of his closest rival, Umno Youth deputy chief Khairy Jamaluddin, in nominations for the Youth wing's No 1 post.
Khir Toyo has notched up 53 nominations, elbowing Khairy (51) into third spot.
Mukhriz Mahathir, son of former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, remained the frontrunner with 68 nominations.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak continued to monopolise the nominations for the ruling party's top post.
He has picked up every single nominations from the party divisions which have met so far with the exception of one - Gua Musang which today gave its nod to its division chief Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.
Still no one qualified to battle Muhyiddin
While Najib is almost certain of winning the party president without contest, vice-president Muhyiddin Yassin is today one step closer to his bid for the No 2 post.
He has 69 nominations while his rivals have yet to pick up enough nominations to even qualify for the contest.
Both Mohd Ali Rustam (25 nominations) and Muhammad Muhd Taib (22) are still short of the 39 required for their names to appear on the ballot paper.
As of tonight, there are no new qualified contestants apart from the five who have already earned the right to bid for the three vice-president posts - Hishammuddin Hussein (95), Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (69), Shafie Apdal (49), Khaled Nordin (52) and Syed Hamid Albar (22).
Yet to qualify are Rais Yatim (10), Isa Samad (13), Jamaluddin Jarjis (10), Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik (10), Shahidan Kassim (6), Mohamad Hassan (3), Musa Aman (2), Mohd Ali Rustam (1), Annuar Musa (1), Mohd Afifuddin Omar (1) and Halimah Sadique (1).
Shahrizat Abdul Jalil bagged another three nominations today for Wanita chief post.
She now has 60 nominations, well over the 39 she needed to qualify to contest the post. However, she has yet to indicate whether she will challenge the incumbent chief, Rafidah Aziz, who has 101 nominations.
Shahrizat is also qualified to defend her Wanita deputy chief post. She has 98 nominations as of today, while another leader, Kamilia Ibrahim, has 44 nominations, enough to qualify for the contest.
Umno divisions have up to Nov 9 to complete their meetings. So far, more than half of the 191 divisions have already met.
The hotly contested Umno polls will be held on March 24-28 next year in conjunction with party's annual general assembly.

tunku : i won't be surprised if kj wins the youth chief post even though he is at 3rd position now.come march, anything can happen.to manipulate the G7 is much easier than the division's delegates.umno members should choose a youth leader which will not only stand for umno but for bn too as he will be the bn youth chief too.he must be well accepted by the component parties.we can't allow a crook combination to rule the umno youth.

Apapun, pilihlah calon yang berkebolehan. Mempunyai bilangan pencalonan yang banyak atau mempunyai penyokong yang ramai bukan ukuran untuk memperlihatkan kemampuan calon.
