Johor Umno: Speed up transition of power

JOHOR BARU: The plan for transition of power from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to his deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak should be expedited in an orderly manner, Johor Umno information chief Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi said.

Dr Mohd Puad, who is the Batu Pahat Umno Division chief, said Umno had executed the transition of power from one leader to another, as in the cases of the transition from the late Tunku Abdul Rahman to the late Tun Abdul Razak and from Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to Abdullah.
“At its meeting with Abdullah on Friday, Johor Umno asked the Prime Minister to prepare the plan for transition of power. It is something that has to be carried out,” he said, adding that a number of division chiefs wanted the plan to be carried out quickly.
All 26 Umno division chiefs in Johor except Education Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, who is the Sembrong division chief, attended the closed-door meeting with the Prime Minister. Hishammuddin is in Paris attending the Unesco meeting.
Gelang Patah Umno division chief Datuk Abdul Aziz Sapian said the orderly transition of power from Abdullah to Najib as proposed by the Johor Umno Liaison Committee could enable Umno and the Government to regain the support of the Malays.
He said the execution of the transition of power was the basis of expression of full support by the Johor Umno Liaison Committee for the leadership of Abdullah last Friday.
“In other words, the support for the Prime Minister was closely linked to the Prime Minister's acceptance of the proposal by the Johor Umno liaison committee for a transition plan,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Bakri Umno division will not prevent its branches from holding extraordinary general meetings to discuss a motion to scrap the quota system for the party's elections in December.
“I will not stop branches from conducting extraordinary general meetings to drop the quota system for candidates contesting important party posts,” its chief Datuk Abdullah Ali told reporters after launching the Maulidul Rasul celebration of its Wanita wing at Sekolah Kebangsaan Air Hitam Batu 18 in Muar yesterday. – Bernama

Muar Umno thanks veep

MUAR: Muar Umno committee members have thanked party vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for his realistic views on Umno’s future.
Representing the group, Datuk Kadar Shah Tun Sulaiman Ninam Shah said leaders at all levels should be brave to act to save Umno.
“If we don’t revamp Umno now, we will not have another chance to do it as the party would be bereft of members and become irrelevant,” he said yesterday.

tunku : tv3 and most of the mainstream media spinned the story that johor backs abdullah 100% without telling that they had asked pak lah to speed up transition of power. till today there still wants to spin.some of them will never learn. one thing for sure this is not the time to say it indirectly or "bersopan santun", this is the time to act fast and harshly.
