Abdullah Says New ACA D-G To Be Announced Soon

KUALA LUMPUR, April 2 (Bernama) -- The new director-general of the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) will be announced as soon as possible, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said Monday.

The ACA deputy director-general would be acting ACA chief for the time being, he told reporters after opening the Heads of Malaysian Missions conference here.
The agency has two deputy directors-general -- Datuk Ahmad Said Hamdan is Deputy Director-General I while Datuk Zakaria Jaffar is Deputy Director-General II.
Abdullah was queried on who would become the new director-general following the government's decision not to renew the contract of Datuk Seri Zulkipli Mat Noor which expired on March 31.
On police investigation into allegations of corruption and abuse of power levelled against Zulkipli, Abdullah said: "Investigation papers are not to be revealed."
Police have set up a special team of 10 officers from Bukit Aman and the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent to conduct the probe.
It has so far recorded statements from 21 witnesses.
The allegations against Zulkipli was made by former ACA Sabah director Mohamad Ramli Abdul Manan.
