PM's no Loss Remark Misconstrued, Says Musa
KOTA KINABALU, April 17 (Bernama) -- The "no loss" statement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on Tan Sri Chong Kah Kiat's resignation from his ministerial post in the state cabinet has been misconstrued, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said Tuesday.
"I believe what the prime minister said has been misconstrued," he said in a statement Tuesday.
Musa said based on the reports, the prime minister was asked if Chong's resignation was a loss to the Barisan Nasional (BN) state government.
"I believe he (Abdullah) said "no" because the posts (of both Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment) will not be left vacant for a long time, therefore it is not really a "loss" in that sense (vacancy of posts)," he said.
Musa also hoped the media would not play up the "no loss" statement.
"I think this is unfair especially since the prime minister did express his appreciation to Tan Sri Chong for his services," he added.
Chong said on Friday he was resigning on a matter of principle. His resignation took effect yesterday.
He will, however, remain as Tanjung Kapor state assemblyman.
tunku : this is really a joke, it should be the pm explaining it but musa aman is explaining about pm's remark been misconstrued, well musa, don't think we are that stupid, just look at the question, will it be a loss for bn state government, they did not ask whether the vacant post will be a loss.what a joke.he is trying to hide something that can't be hide.
