Nallakarupan to stand in Ijok ?


PKR wants to contest in Ijok by-election
KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) wants to contest in the upcoming by-election for the Ijok seat, which fell vacant following the death of incumbent state assemblyman Datuk K. Sivalingam.
The party has short-listed five prospective candidates.
Selangor PKR deputy chief P. Krishnasamy, who is one of the nominees, said the decision to contest the seat was made by its political bureau.
“The name of the candidate is expected to be announced next week,” he added.
It is learnt that among the other names submitted to the party leadership are PKR treasurer Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, former Youth chief Ezam Mohd Noor and vice-president nominee Datuk K.S. Nallakaruppan.
Meanwhile, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said PKR president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail had requested for a meeting to discuss the Ijok by-election.
Lim said party members had expressed their wish to see an opposition candidate from the Indian community to face the Barisan Nasional in the by-election.
