Pas to drop Islamic state and hudud issues for good.....

Karpal: Pakatan Must Discuss Islamic State Issue

DAP national chairperson Karpal Singh said the issue of Islamic state should be urgently discussed by the Pakatan Rakyat as he does not want the BN to exploit the issue at the coming general election.
Karpal (left), who spoke during Pakatan's second convention wrap up session, said the DAP can discuss the issue with PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, PAS spiritual leader and Kelantan menteri besar Nik Aziz Nik Mat and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
The Bukit Gelugor MP was the only Pakatan leader who raised the controversial issue at the convention.
However, the veteran lawyer, who advised PAS not to repeatedly say that the constitution allows for an Islamic state, found his suggestions well received by the mostly Malay Muslim audience at the convention.
"I would like to advise PAS to defend the non-Malays' right to freedom of religion just as PAS defends Islam as the official religion of the country under the constitution," he said.
"Please give 'face' a bit to DAP," said Karpal in jest, drawing laughter from the crowd.
During his speech, Karpal touched on various issues including Anwar's suspension from Parliament recently and the conduct of the judge in the latter's sodomy case.
The 1,800 crowd who were still glued to their seats at the end of the convention were very receptive towards Karpal's speech, clapping enthusiastically at his jokes and capping his speech with a standing ovation.

tunku : i am sure at the end of karpal's speech the shouted "takbir" as usual. i have read some of the blogs saying that karpal's supported Islamic state but actually its not.in fact karpal had asked pas the drop their Islamic state and hudud agenda and the crowd seems to agree with it.karpal said he agrees with Islam as the official religion of Malaysia.well he has to agree with that as it is stipulated in the constitution.that means pas indirectly has drop the Islamic state and hudud agendas and they should not lie to the people anymore.

Those who take others as patrons are losers. If not now, definitely in the Hereafter.

Assalamualaikum Tunku,
Sorry lari dari topic sedikit, tapi i nak sharing dengan u what
i was coated from the star today :
The Government will soon give recognition to degrees of universities in China and Taiwan, China Press reported.

Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Dr Hou Kok Chung was quoted as saying that the proposal was being finalised.

Dr Hou said the ministry was in touch with its counterparts in China to arrange for a meeting between leaders of the two countries before a memorandum of understanding could be signed.

“Degrees offered by China will soon be recognised.

“It will materialise once our Prime Minister and his deputy sign an agreement with their counterparts.

“Taiwan will be next once we have inked an agreement with China,” he said.

Sin Chew Daily also reported that the number of suicide cases had increased over the years.

Chinese Associations Malaysia (Hua Zong) president Tan Sri Pheng Yin Huah said 280 cases were reported in 2008 compared to 445 cases reported in the first eight months of this year.

He added that the situation was alarming as more younger people were taking their lives.

He urged the relevant parties – the Government, NGOs and religious organisations – to work together to keep to stop the situation from worsening.

"But how about Malay political games"

They are either shouting Ketuanan Melayu without a need to earn a living, or they are too busy amassing money abuses from NEP.

It is easy to generalise things, but in doing so you are also indirectly saying that all Malays are useless and we do not lift a finger "to earn a living, or are too busy amassing money abuses from NEP". The statement is slanderous to the entire Malay society and uncalled for!
