Malays have right to support any NGO: Rais...is that so?

TANJUNG MALIM: The Malays have the right to support any non-governmental organisation (NGO) which they think is fighting for their cause as long as the NGO is not politicised and involved in controversial issue, Information Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said.
He said other communities also had the right to support NGOs which were suitable to their struggle and activities.
“So the message conveyed by (former prime minister) Tun Dr Mahathir (Mohamad) is in line with this context.
“If the struggle is not politicised or saddled with controversial problems, the Malays will be able to support it and the values it carries,” he said.
He was speaking to reporters after opening the “Remembering the Statesman Tun Abdul Razak” programme at Sultan Idris University of Education (UPSI) here.
He was asked to comment on the statement by Dr Mahathir that the Malay right-wing group Perkasa was formed to fight for the rights of the Malays and not an extremist group, and therefore its struggle was in line with that of Umno’s. -- Bernama

tunku : it is so strange nowadays that when Malays fighting for their right it is labelled as a racist act and if others do that, then it's for their right and its ok to do so. unity is the key word here for the Malays, be united.

1. You are correct to state that when Malays in their quest to defend what is legitimately theirs as enshrined in the Constitution, form their own NGOS, and actively participate to uphold its objectives, are deemed to be racists !

2. Others had done the same ; some legitimate and some are not.BUT they have not labelled themselves as racists when they could even indulge themselves in making damaging and "anti- Constitutional" demands. They were as racists as racism could surely be !!!

3. Even then, the Malays did not even bother to pay attention to their ridiculous demands and no vehement protests occured. This was due to the fact that the Malays were thinking more of social and political stability over silly demands which were contrary to the aspiration and agreement agreed upon between parties, groupings and races.

4. The so-called "election demands of 1999" by a certain group is a case in point. Luckily the top echelon of the power that be did not listen or accede to their outrageous demands which could be aptly labelled as "political blackmailing"

5. Perhaps it is now another ploy of these groups to take advantage of the current political situation to liven-up another 'election demand'. With the help of 'saboteurs' from other Malay-based political parties, this wicked scheme, could be further nourished and targetted to succeed !

6. Though some Malays may decide to 'close one eye and shut the other' so as to be given the chance to 'smell' political power, temporary though it may be, there are still many Malays out there who are still conscious and brave enough to see through the games, lies and deceits of those who we can describe as traitors to their own race.

7. Being a traitor is one thing but not admitting to the fact that there are "agents" out there ready to destroy the very fabric of political stability, the basic observations of the Federal constitution, the public confidence of the law enforcement agencies and even the 'Kedaulatan Raja-Raja MELAYU'; must surely be an act of treachery to the highest degree !

8. If and when the Malays realize that their dependence on political parties thus far has been unfulfilled, they have no choice but to seek redress from other groups, perhaps in the form of Malay-based NGOs. This is where PERKASA comes into the picture , along with over 80 odd NGOs, forming a strategic alliance, simply to help the Malays defend what is rightly theirs under the law and prescribed in the Federal Constitution while at the same time never questioning ,under the same premise, what has been alloted for the other groups and races.

9. It must therefore be looked at from this angle ; defending one's own rights and NOT depriving others of theirs ! This would be the formula to dispel suspicions , to instil greater awareness and understanding and henceforth to foster a friendly atmosphere between the various races in our beloved country.

10.Finally, I would just add this expression - What is good for the goose, must also be good for the gander - to reflect upon, with a tinge of common sense and clear thinking !

you r right tunku, united is the answer to all these chaos right now. if malays are united, then the whole nation will be peaceful.malays progress means progress of all races in malaysia.so we hope other races understand this. till this moment not even 20% of the nation wealth belongs to the malays......so why are we hearing that other races are being marginalised?

Only minority groups have to fight for their rights. The ruling class does not have to fight for its rights. I just am unable to comprehend the debate that is taking place now.The majority is in control. So what is all this debate about.Just take the saham issue. The Bursa Saham has said that RM52Billion worth of shares were allocated to a particular community up todate.I do not have to list the rest. When you focus just on your needs your whole perspective in life changes. Good Luck and God Bless. Ramlax

Ya, penjajah kini bertukar kulit warna daripada putih kepada kuning bergabung pulasan.

Mereka ni dah lama nak ambil alih kuasa pemerintah drp orang Melayu.

Awas, jangan sampai Melayu dihalau kehutan saperti hasrat mereka ditahun 69.
