Forget about Kelantan, Zam tells Umno

Barisan Nasional, especially Umno, should stop trying to wrest Kelantan after the people are adamant in their decision to go along with PAS for the fifth time, former information minister Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin said today.
He said it was time for Umno to realise that the time and money poured into efforts to take over the state were an exercise in futility.
He said the money poured into the political struggle in Kelantan had caused more bickering among Umno leaders in the state.
However, the BN’s defeat in Kelantan should not be an obstacle to continued development in the state if there is close cooperation between the Kelantan PAS government and the federal government, he said.
“PAS’ victory in several states and non-Malays areas also shows that the party can be rational when under political pressure to continue to be in power.
“This general election also shows that PAS is willing to move away from its fanatic policies and be rational in the reality of Malaysian politics,” he told Bernama here.
Zainuddin said he believed that efforts to help the people of Kelantan would not be in vain because they they were a hardworking people who were always on the lookout for business opportunities.
“I believe that the Kelantan government will also change its attitude and be more open if faced with a friendly federal government,’ he said.

tunku : too late to realized but better late than never.BN tried their best and went all out for Kelantan till they forget about other states. At they end BN lost 5 states. For BN to gain confident back in Kelantan, they should never allow KJ to campaign in Kelantan, he is not welcome there. They should get rid the UMNO deadwoods in Kelantan and lastly get a new UMNO president.UMNO Kelantan need some serious revamp and re-engineering.

The problem is the majority of UMNO candidates in Kelantan are happily living in the big city and bright lights of Kuala Lumpur and the two gentlemen heading the effort are not 100$ in it due to the fact that they would rather live in KL and be federal ministers than live in Kelantan. How can you have people whose hearts aren't in it to lead an assault to wrest the State from the opposition?

Furthermore, Even the one heading the campaign wasn't confident of winning the state, why else would he want to stand in parliament as well? It is so that he could continue to live and serve in KL.

Zam is 200% correct in his assessment. Case closed.

That mamak Zam only knows how to cakap haprak failing to realise that he was the one abusing RTM prime time news to hit out at PAS in Kelantan. It is poetic justice that Zam the minister of Information got kicked out very much in the same way that Senu as Information Minister also lost in the 1969 elections. Mamak zam is giving vent to his anger because he lost and there is no way Pak lah can appoint him senator because he had already been appointed a senator. mamak zam should stop making noises to attract cheap publicity. Since his "kakis" in Utusan Malaysia don't want him back - he made so many enemies there - perhaps Zam can start to sell putu mayam in Pekan Rabu in his home town of Alor star. Alternatively, he can start to row his tongkang between Merbok and Penang or langkawi. But wait a minute? Didn't his sworn enemies PAS and DAP take over the state govts of Kedah and penang? After all the bad things mamak zam said about PAS and DAP, do you think they will give our mamak zam a licence to ply his tongkang in the seas of their states? The lesson which our mamak zam should learn is never OVER hit your political enemies. Politics is a game of ups and downs, and when your enemies are up and you down, you can expect all the flak from them ...after you have given them your flak earlier. Good lesson for mamak zam.

Have a nice day, Tunku.
