Azmi: Good idea for veteran politicians to be advisers to state Umno leadership

KANGAR: Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Azmi Khalid who is not holding any post in the Padang Besar Umno division has welcomed Perlis Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim’s suggestion that he become an adviser to the state party leadership.
He said it was normal for a veteran to advise the party’s leadership.
“It’s a good suggestion. There is no problem. All (quarters) want the veterans to become advisers,” he said when asked to comment on Shahidan’s suggestion that two ministers from Perlis who are not holding any post in the Umno divisions should become advisers to the state Umno leadership.
Azmi did not defend his post as Padang Besar Umno division head to make way for Beseri assemblyman Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin at the last party divisional election. Azmi has since been appointed Perlis Umno information chief.
The other minister from Perlis is Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohd Radzi Sheikh Ahmad.
Shahidan, who is also Umno Perlis liaison committee chairman, is embroiled in a spat with Radzi who claimed that there was disunity in the state Umno, and even suggested that the Menteri Besar be replaced. – Bernama

tunku : yes, it is good idea if veteran politicians to be advisers but before that resign from your current post. how can a minister be adiviser to state leadership? i know that is not wrong and not in constitution but when you are a minister than you are not under the veteran category.i think those who don't have position in division should not be made member of parliament in the first place.perlis have 3 parliamentary seat and two of them are made minister and three of them don't have any position in the division.i wonder why ? again this is happening under hp6 pm.
