Two PKR Assemblymen Deny Quitting Post

IPOH, Feb 1 (Bernama) -- Two Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) state assemblymen in Perak denied a statement issued by the Perak State Assembly speaker, that both had resigned effective today.
Behrang state assemblyman Jamaluddin Mat Radzi and Changkat Jering state assemblyman Mohd Osman Jailu said the letter referred to by the speaker, V. Sivakumar, was signed on March 8, 2008.
"The undated letter was signed by seven PKR state assemblymen because they feared we would join Barisan Nasional. It looks like they had used the letter to paint a false impression that we had resigned.
"This is a lie and I will speak to my lawyer to decide on the next course of action," said Jamaluddin when contacted by Bernama, after Sivakumar had announced that both assemblymen had resigned.
"I and Mohd Osman are still state assemblymen under PKR and have never announced that we were leaving the party or going to join Umno," he said.
Speaking of Menteri Besar Perak Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin's claim that two state assemblymen had disappeared since Monday, Jamaluddin said he was actually on sick leave since Wednesday.
"My medical leave is in the office, so I was not lost," he said.
However, he refused to divulge any information of his whereabouts during the missing period.
Sivakumar in a statement to the media today had said that Jamaluddin and Mohd Osman had handed over their resignation letters in his house at 5.45pm today.
Following their resignation, Sivakumar had said that he would inform the Election Commission to hold a by-election within 60 days.

tunku : i guess not only jamaluddin and osman needs to resign as assemblyman but nasarudin(bota) too.it will be fair and square to all.let have by election in those 3 places. we hope the 2 pkr member will remain as independence.we don't want a government to be formed by hopping.

I am in agreement with a by election or institute a anti-hop law now. It is becoming a farce.

in this case probably there will be another by-election since 2 PKR representative had vacant their post.if i'm not mistaken the by-election gonna be held 60 days the day atrer the resignation letter received by the speaker.

it's better for the people to decide of which party they want rather than all this wakil rakyat hopping at their own will.
