IPOH: Barisan Nasional has officially notified the Sultan of Perak Sultan Azlan Shah that it has the majority to set up a new state government and its 28 assemblymen and three independents pledged support to Barisan in front of the Ruler.
Barisan state chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Razak said he had an audience with the Sultan in the morning to notify the ruler that Barisan now commanded the majority in the state assembly.
"To confirm that Barisan truly controls the majority, His Highness requested that all Barisan state assemblymen and those supporting it to have an audience with him.
"A second audience with the Sultan was later arranged, attended by all 27 Barisan state assemblymen and Datuk Nasarudin (Hashim of Bota), who had return to Barisan's fold, together with the three state representatives who had left their respective parties and are now supporting Barisan.
"All of them pledged their support to Barisan and the person to be appointed as the Mentri Besar later, before the Sultan," he told reporters before chairing the state Umno Liaison Committee meeting.
He said the final decision now rest with the Sultan and Barisan would respect whatever was decided by the palace later, even if meant the dissolution of the state assembly to enable a fresh state election to be called.
Asked about the potential candidate as new Mentri Besar, Najib said, that was something that would be decided later. "We will announce that later. There are procedures that we need to follow through as stipulated under the state constitution," he added.
tunku : i am sure that Tuanku Sultan will make the best decision for his state and the people of Perak.Let gives Tuanku time and no one should make anymore announcement.Najib said the right thing that the final decision now rest with the Sultan and Barisan would respect whatever was decided by the palace later, even if meant the dissolution of the state assembly to enable a fresh state election to be called.hope pakatan will follow too the advice.
