BN Victory In Kelantan To Usher In Two More Mega Projects

PASIR MAS, March 4 (Bernama) -- Kelantan is to get two more mega projects if the people vote the Barisan Nasional (BN) to power in the state in the general election on Saturday, thus ending 18 years of PAS administration.
Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin said today one was a RM5-billion hydro-electric power project and the other a RM10-billion bio valley project, both targeted for implementation in the Gua Musang district.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had performed the ground-breaking for the Universiti Malaysia Kelantan campus, a mega project as well, in Bachok on Feb 29.
"Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has indicated its desire to implement the hydro-electric power project in Nenggiri," Awang Adek told reporters after launching the Kelantan BN manifesto at the level of the Pasir Mas parliamentary constituency, here.
Awang Adek, who is designated to be the menteri besar of a BN government in Kelantan, said the hydro-electric project would provide uninterrupted power supply unlike depletable energy resources such as petroleum and coal.
"Besides, the hydro-electric project will also help with flood mitigation as the dam will help control the flow of water downstream," he said.
Awang Adek said the Mofaz Group was keen on the bio valley project and wanted to participate in the agricultural sector in Lojing, indicating it planned to invest RM10 billion to cultivate herbs and breed livestock.
"All these projects will bring not only economic development to Kelantan but also make available jobs for the people," he said.

Parking Rate To Be Reduced To 50 Sen Per Hour If BN Wins Kelantan

KOTA BAHARU, March 4 (Bernama) -- The parking rate in Kota Baharu town will be reduced by half to 50 sen per hour if Barisan Nasional (BN) is returned to power in Kelantan, state BN chairman Datuk Seri Annuar Musa said.
Apart from that, arrears on unpaid parking compound fines and assessment rates, as well as the basket tax imposed on market traders would be abolished, he said.
The BN would also streamline the assessment rate, which is also high and and a burden to the the people, he said at a meeting with farmers here last night.
The PAS state government increased the parking rate in Kota Baharu municipality to RM1 per hour, from 70 sen per hour, in March last year.
Annuar, who is also the Kemubu Agricultural Development Authority (Kada) chairman, said efforts would also be made to remove more than 4,000 families in the Kada area from the harcore poor category.
"We will rehabilitate idle land and include the poor families in the programme to enable them to also benefit from the agropolitan programme, to be launched by Kada soon," he added.
He hoped that the federal government would approve an allocation of RM240 million to Kada to implement the agropolitan programme, which would include projects like farming of the Vitato potato variety.

Too cheap a manifesto.
