Heed Party Rules, Ku Nan Tells Ahmad Said

PUTRAJAYA, March 22 (Bernama) -- Kijal Assemblyman Datuk Ahmad Said has been warned that Umno will take stern disciplinary action against him if he accepts the post of Terengganu Menteri Besar and attends the swearing-in ceremony Sunday.
Barisan Nasional (BN) and Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said Saturday Ahmad should not put individual interest before party interest and "bear the consequences" if he went ahead with the swearing-in as the state Menteri Besar.
Speaking at a press conference here, he said Prime Minister and Umno president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had issued an appoinment letter to Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh as the Menteri Besar and it was not right for Ahmad Said to take the oath for the position.
The Sultan of Terengganu, in a statement to Bernama Saturday, announced that Ahmad Said, 51, would be the next state Menteri Besar and that the swearing-in ceremony was to be held at Istana Tamu at 8am Sunday.
Following the announcement, all 23 BN Terengganu state assemblymen in another statement said that they would not attend the ceremony as the ruling party had picked Idris as Menteri Besar.
"We are all components of the BN and Umno. So there is a need for all members to abide by the decision taken by the top leadership. It does not matter what is the outcome but once a decision is made, it must be followed by all members," said Tengku Adnan.
However, he declined to reveal what disciplinary action would be taken by the BN top leadership against Ahmad Said, if the latter went ahead with the swearing-in ceremony Sunday.

tunku : is ku nan trying to say that sultan has no power and it's all what pak lah wants? thank to God that we still have sultans.umno is heading towards downfall if these jokers are still around.Wake up umno members, unseats them.i hope the sultan will give them a very good lesson.

This is how we lost Terengganu to PAS under Mahathir. All the Sultan wanted was Mahathir to replace Wan Mokhtar with another BN assemblyman for MB. Mahathir was stubborn and PAS took Terengganu. It is about to happen again. Terengganu palace usually do not stick their noses in politics but they just want due respect and not more than that. If the MB acts like a Sultan, the rakyat will be confused.
