MCA elections to be held on Oct 18
KUALA LUMPUR: The MCA's parent body elections will be held on Oct 18 and its annual general assembly will be conducted over two days until Oct 19, said party president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting.
The Youth and Wanita wings' election and assembly would be conducted a day before the parent body election, Ong said.
He said the branch assemblies and elections would be held on June 15 while its wings would conduct elections a day before.
"For the divisions' assemblies and elections, these will be conducted on July 27 and the divisions' wings will also have its elections a day before," he said Tuesday after chairing the presidential council meeting at Wisma MCA here.
Ong said the list of eligible members for the party election would be distributed to the branches on April 27 and the members could appeal before May 12.
"Anyone who became a member before Dec 31, 2007, has the right to vote or contest for any office," he said.

Umno should also emulate MCA in that one can hold the President position for not more than 3 terms (or perhaps 4). By the way, Umno is owned by its members and not the President or any other office bearers.
Tak Dak Nama 3
Elections or no elections, MCA is already finished as a political party. MCA might as well close shop. With bodek/ampus like Ong Kah Ting and his brother Ong Kah Chuan leading the party, MCA will continue to be rejected by the Chinese in the next GE and all GEs.
