Sarawak Will Not Lobby For More Federal Representation

KUCHING, March 11 (Bernama) - Sarawak will not lobby for more representation in the federal cabinet, despite several calls to increase the present representation, Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud said today.
"I don't normally lobby for things like this. We will leave it to Prime Minster Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to consider.
"We are in BN. He (Prime Minister) will take note, as he would understand the 'feeling' in Sarawak,"
he told reporters after attending a briefing with MPs at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters here today.
Sarawak has set the record in contributing 30 out of 140 nationwide BN MPs in the March 8 general election. As the backbone of the Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN), PBB won all 14 seats contested while Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) six out of seven seats, while Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) six and Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) four.
Most state and community leaders strongly feel the federal government should now consider giving Sarawakian MPs the recognition they deserved as the state played a pivotal role in ensuring victory for the BN in the just-concluded general election.

tunku : in other words do it if you want to survive.i guess sabah and sarawak deserve to have more representatives in the cabinet as they contributes most of the seats.

30/140, but in population term? some area only few thousands votes, vs peisular?

better reduce number of ministers and chop off some ministries to cut cost!
