Kelantan Umno Needs New Approach To Win Back Support

BACHOK, May 9 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan Umno needs to find a new approach to win back the people's support if it wants to win back the state from PAS in the 13th general election, state Umno deputy chief Senator Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin said.
Leaders should meet the people at the grassroots level, and listen and try to resolve their problems, he said.
"This includes visiting those who are sick or attending feasts or funerals," he said at a get-together attended by the Bachok Umno division's Wanita, Youth and Puteri leaders last night.
Awang Adek, who is the Bachok Umno division chief, said such a method was better than showing up only during major events attended by top leaders.
He said that the coordinating committee chairmen appointed at the state constituencies should be on the forefront in meeting the people.

tunku : Umno kelantan need major revamp if they want to win back support form the people there.most of the Umno leaders there are not suitable and hated by the people.mustafa and awang adik need to work hard day and night if they want it to be a dream come true for them.Umno HQ should stop pumping in "resources" to these leaders as they enjoy it as oppositions, they gets more.once the HQ stop the "resources" only those who are sincere will be left in the party. these are the people that can win back the people's support.mustafa mohamed is the best umno leader in kelantan and i can say too in the country.the only thing he is lacking is supports from the kelantanese. awang adik should change his political style.he is a brilliant man but he need to be more down to earth approach.

Salam Tunku,

The truth is supporters of BN and PAKATAN in Kelantan are almost equal in number. However swing votes come from Kelantanese who live and earn their living outside the state.

Furthermore the previous state leadership didn't do justice for Kelantan UMNO. Annuar Musa many times shamelessly raped the party, and KJ with his "good" reputation further wrecked the sinking ship. So there's nothing much left for Tok Pa to offer, except a few floating wreckage.

Wassalam.

Jangan duk bagi ketua UMNO duk balun projek-projek ajer..orang lain nak hidup jugak.

p/s: ramai yg duk perati ketua-ketua UMNO kelantan duk balun projek. sebab tu orang marah especially orang atas pagar.

Tuan,
Dulu tahun 1991, UMNO kalah. Lepas tu UMNO bersatu sekejap..dengan motto "Islam Secara Bijaksana" UMNO dapat banyak sokongan (1995). Bila nampak ada sokongan..semua duk berebut nak jadi ketua perhubungan/jawatan. So, kalah (1999).
Start tahun 2000, Dato' Mustapha jadi ketua perhubungan, tahun 2004 menang dan hampir kuasai kelantan.
lepas tahun 2004, pakat berebut nak jawatan/ketua perhubungan. nak pilihanraya tetiba Awang Adek jadi ketua perhubungan UMNO dan nak jadi sangat-sangat MB. So, kalah!

The characters of UMNO local leaders themself that do not BLEND with the local.

UMNO maybe having many BRANCHES in Kelantan BUT mostly are run by the father, mother, daughther, son and son-in law type of organization.

Everytime the are having branch election only selective members are invited.

Member is accepted among the less fortunate and stupier than them. Anyone smarter would not be accepted into the local branch UMNO circle.

Anyone young, promising, professional and having a potential to bring transformation to the party branch leadership would not be accepted AT ALL or their application form would be delayed or just KIV in their office file for months or years.

Unless we let democracy truely flourish at branch and divisional levels and regular Rakyat could participate in joining the party openly only then UMNO would truely blend with the local need.

The existence of UMNO branch and division are isolated from the need of the local. Therefore unless we able to change that only then the local would participate.

There are still many independent voters that we could attract to participate in UMNO activities that benefiting the local that later could become our supporters in the election.

Gaining voters confidence is not an overnite efforts by our baranch and division BUT a continously efforts and sacrifices by our local leaders.

It is about time for our top leadership to really check of how many ACTIVE members each of the branch is listing for sure.

Direct membership application to the HQ and distributing the approved list to branch and division could further assist in recruiting of new and potential member into branch or divisional level without prejudice.

I have seen many potential leader among the youth graduated from local and oversea universities have been turn down or KIV from joining these CLANS. It is very dissapointed to let it keep happening in Kelantan in particular.

UMNO is wasting time in Kelantan. UMNO will not be able to penetrate the state. PAS is still supreme here. UMNO leaders are just not the type liked by the people here.
