Anwar's Badmouthing Disgusting, Says Sanusi Junid

KUALA LUMPUR, March 7 (Bernama) -- Former Kedah menteri besar Tan Sri Sanusi Junid has described as disgusting Parti Keadilan Rakyat(PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's conduct of badmouthing Malaysia abroad.
He said it was typical of Anwar to take his campaign to Singapore and described the stunt as something born out of frustration because the former deputy prime minister had failed to get the attention he craved in Malaysia.
"He has always been like that but you don't say things against your own country just because you feel frustrated.
"For me, it's quite a disgusting thing," he said after presenting awards to academic staff of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in Gombak, here, in conjunction with its annual Quality Day celebration.
Sanusi was referring to Wednesday's incident, where Anwar, at a news conference attended by about 50 foreign media representatives in Singapore, mocked the conduct of the general election in Malaysia and attempted to undermine the credibility of the Election Commission
Sanusi said acts of tarnishing the image of one's country were always well-received by enemies of the state and Anwar should not interpret it as a show of support for him.
"Even if it was I who went to Singapore to badmouth Malaysia, the news would still receive huge publicity.
"Mocking your own country is something that would most certainly be applauded by our enemies," he said.
He cited the examples of authors who profess to be Muslis faith but write books condemning and criticising Islamic teachings.
"Such literature is always welcomed in the West and you will find them bestowing these writers with literary awards," he said.
On Barisan Nasional'S (BN) chances in Kedah in the election, Sanusi said confidently: "The BN will win in Kedah, we'll win all over the state."
When a reporter remarked that PAS was also just as confident about winning in Kedah, the former Umno secretary-general said there was no need to worry.
"Ninety per cent of things we worry in life won't happen. We worry that we will lose in Kedah, but that won't happen.
"In politics, we are always optimistic," he said with a smile.
