Shabery - Anwar Debate: 9PM 15th July 2008

Bernama TV To Telecast The Fuel Price Debate Live

KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 (Bernama) -- Bernama TV, through Astro channel 502, will telecast live the debate on the fuel price increase between Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim tomorrow.
The one-and-a-half-hour debate, entitled "Hari Ini Membentuk Kerajaan, Esok Turun Harga Minyak" (Today Form the Government, Tomorrow Decrease the Fuel Price) and organised by the news portal, Agenda Daily, will be held at the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) starting at 9pm.
TV9 will also telecast the debate live.
DBP chairman Johan Jaaffar, who is also the moderator, said the debate would be held along the lines of the presidential debate in the United States.
"Both debaters will be on stage and will be given five minutes each to make their opening remarks and I will ask them one question each," he said.
Johan said Anwar dan Ahmad Shabery would also invite their own reporters to ask the questions.
"The reporter invited by Ahmad Shabery will question Anwar and vice versa. I think this way is fair," he added.
Asked about his preparation for the debate, Johan said that as far as possible he would not interfere with the questions to be asked by the reporters.
"I will only concentrate on the topic and I don't know what questions they will ask, he said.

tunku : so it's confirmed that the debate is on.let us watch it live at 2100hrs.let us pray that it won't be cancelled at the last minute.Astro Awani (501),Bernama TV(502),TV9 will be airing the debate live.

Ahmad Shabery Explains Why RTM Won't Telecast Live His Debate With Anwar

KUANTAN, July 14 (Bernama) -- Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek said he agreed that his debate on fuel price with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim tommorow be telecast live so that there would not be perceptions that the programme was edited or doctored.
He said the debate, however, would not be telecast live by RTM but rather by Bernama TV, Astro Awani and TV9 as he did not want to make use of RTM to air official programmes involving him.
Speaking to reporters after attending the opening of Pahang RTM Auditorium and Broadcasting Complex by the Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah, the minister said he also agreed to the live telecast as the event was newsworthy and not because he was out to seek popularity.
"Don't make me the third most important person (after the prime minister and deputy prime minister) in terms of news coverage," he said when asked on the debate titled "Hari Ini Membentuk Kerajaan, Esok Turun Harga Minyak" (Form the government today, reduce the fuel price tommorow) scheduled to be held at the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka at 9pm.
Anwar was reported to have promised to reduce the fuel price if the opposition formed the government, saying, "If the Pakatan Rakyat takes over Malaysia's administration, the fuel price will immediately be reduced the next day."
hmad Shabery said the debate would enable him as the Information Minister to explain the government's recent move to increase the fuel price in the wake of the sudden rise in the global oil price.
"If the Information Minister cannot explain the government's policies, who else? That is why I've told the prime minister that if I fail to explain the issue, I will leave it to him to find a new Information Minister," he said.
Ahmad Shabery said he was confident that the people would be able to evaluate the rationale behind the government's move to increase the fuel price.
"This (debate) can set a trend in the country. If we have differences in opinion, we debate.
"This is better than organising demonstrations, disturbing public order or staging shameful concerts," he said.

tunku: as long as the debate is covered by other tv channels, it's ok for rtm not to cover it.can't wait for 2100hrs.

Police Will Monitor DBP Tuesday Night - CPO

KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 (Bernama) -- The police will monitor the vicinity of the Dewan Bahasa Dan Pustaka (DBP) building Tuesday night, in view of the debate between Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at its premises.
The debate themed, 'Form the Government Today, Reduce the Price of Oil Tomorrow', will start at 9pm.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Wira Muhammad Sabtu Osman said the police needed to monitor the vicinity to prevent untoward incidents.
"We are making preparations to face any eventuality tomorrow night," he said.
On the mounting of road blocks in the city under the operation, 'Ops Padam', the police chief said they would be lifted when the situation is deemed safe.

tunku : we hope police will be fully prepared as trouble is another name for anwar.

MV Agusta: Proton sells for RM5, Harley buys for RM350 mil

Harley Davidson Inc has agreed to purchase Italian motorcycle manufacturer MV Agusta, once owned by Proton Holdings Bhd, for US$109 million (RM352 million).
According to an Associated Press report, the deal will help Harley-Davidson expand into the European market as sales slump in the US, where consumers are pulling back on spending.
In 2006, Proton Holdings had sold the company, which it bought for RM368 million, for one euro (RM5), a deal which raised many eyebrows and drew flak from various quarters.
Among those who criticised the 'firesale' were former premier and Proton adviser Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the company’s former chief executive officer Tengku Mahaleel Arif.
In a news report then, Mahathir said: "As the two people (Mahathir and Mahaleel) most involved in the purchase of MV Agusta, our credibility and honesty are at stake."
Mahathir said there was no urgent need to sell the stake in the Italian motorcycle company as its debts had been frozen. In defending the sale, Proton had said here were no synergies between the motorcycle maker and Proton as a carmaker.
"There were no operational, engineering, and technological synergies between Agusta and Proton. This has been independently confirmed by Proton’s appointed advisers.
"Proton manufactures cars for the masses while Agusta manufactures motorcycle," the company had said in a statement.
Careful consideration
Proton bought a 57.75 percent stake in MV Agusta in December 2004 for 70 million euro (RM367.6 million).
The current management sold the stake to Italy’s GEVI Spa, which also assumed the motorcycle maker’s 107 million euro debt.
Proton said the entire purchase consideration of RM367.6 million was treated as goodwill and written off in the financial year ended March 31, 2005.
The additional provisions relating to MV Agusta in the accounts of the Proton group for the financial year ended March 31, 2006, amounted to RM136.2 million.
The company also reiterated that the decision to dispose the stake in MV Agusta was after careful consideration of the financial and operational implications to the Proton group, both in the immediate as well as the long term.
Meanwhile, Harley Davidson is expected to seal the deal in several weeks. It will be paid for through euro-denominated debt, said the American motorcycle manufacturer.
The purchase price includes Harley-Davidson assuming MV Agusta's existing bank debt of about US$70 million.
MV Agusta is privately held, and the Castiglioni family owns 95 percent of its shares.
Under the agreement, Harley-Davidson will pay Claudio Castiglioni, who will continue to serve as chairman, additional payments in 2016 if certain financial targets are met.
MV Agusta will keep operating from its headquarters in Varese, Italy. Harley-Davidson will appoint a new managing director once the deal closes.

Mahathir's reaction
In an immediate response, Mahathir wrote in his blog with his usual sarcasm that Proton's "savvy management" had sold Agusta to an unknown company in Italy - Gevi SpA. "Some months ago Husqvarna, a division of MV Agusta which manufactures scrambler sporty off-road motorcycles was sold to a German company, BMW for 90 million euro (RM450 million). Now the rest of MV Agusta has been bought by Harley-Davidson Motor Cycles of the United States for RM350 million."
He argued that Proton has lost approximately RM800 million by selling Agusta for only RM5. "The buyer invested one euro and made 160 million euro," he said. "Do we need a royal commission to look into this or should the ACA investigate this matter particularly the role of Credit Suisse who was paid a huge consultancy fee to advise Proton's management who executed it.
"Or maybe we do not mind losing RM800 million because we have so much money."

tunku : wonder who are behind Gevi Spa ??? this people really benefited from the sales.this is another brilliant job of our outgoing pm in two years time. we demand an explanation from them(the pm and proton's azlan ) who did the most idiotic decision by selling MV Agusta for RM5.

Final 2 years: PM vows to fight graft, reform judiciary

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has pledged to battle corruption and bolster the judiciary before handing power to his deputy Najib Razak in mid-2010.
Abdullah also hopes the two-year transition will promote stability in Umno which suffered one of its worst electoral defeats in March.
"There will be less in-fighting, there will less campaigning amongst one another (for the leadership post)," he was quoted as saying by the official Bernama news agency late Saturday.
"In the two (coming) years as the prime minister, I will use the authority that I have in the best manner possible," he added, alluding to the country's corruption problems, and following a major government operation this week.

tunku : what have you been doing since 2003? sleeping? you vowed in 2003 but did nothing and now i'm sure you'll do it as this is the only thing that can give some credits to your ruined reputation.we hope you put extra hours working to strengthen our weak economy right now.that is the most important thing to do now.

The Anti-Corruption Agency detained at least 20 people including two top immigration officials allegedly involved in a scam to provide visas to migrant workers in exchange for money.
Abdullah's speech followed his announcement on Thursday to quit but the decision has not silenced calls for a prompt change of leadership.
Progress has been slow
Since taking office in 2003, Abdullah, who is Umno president, has promised to crackdown on graft and strengthen the judiciary as part of his election promises.

tunku : he just woke up.

But opposition leaders say progress has been slow, with few meaningful reforms.
The opposition has been demanding that the ACA report to parliament and not to Abdullah and it has been criticised for failing to secure high-level politically sensitive convictions.
Abdullah also said he will not try to hold on to power post mid-2010. "I will never do that. I won't go to Najib and tell him: 'They (Umno members) like me now, can you allow me to stay on for another one year?'," he said.

tunku : yes, you can't ask najib to allow you to stay on for another year but you can have a new deputy (under certain circumstances) and tell the nation that your deputy is inexperience and you need to stay on.

UMNO'S AND BUMIPUTERAS' DEATH WISH - THE TREACHERY OF ABDULLAH BADAWI

Matthias Chang
Future FastForward

The Hardball Reality
No one reading this article is going to like it. It might very well provoke anger and frustration. So be it! I offer no apologies.
The ugly truth is hard to swallow and whether you, the reader is willing to accept the prognosis below is irrelevant as the events will play out in due course. This is a given.
I am going to discuss two things:
(i) Badawi’s recent theatrics about the next prime minister and
(ii) more importantly, the financial hell hole we are plunging into, especially the Bumiputeras.

Badawi’s Succession Theatrics
There have been many scenarios concerning the future outcome of the “Badawi Succession Theatrics” and each one of them reflects, one way or another, the deep-seated fear or subjective fantasies of the UMNO power brokers as opposed to the reality that is fast unfolding.
One scenario received through my mobile phone: post-December 2008, Badawi will pile on the sex scandal pressures on Najib to such an extent that he becomes a radioactive waste and will be a welcomed reject. Khaled Nordin will then replace Najib as Deputy President and Deputy Prime Minister. The Prince in waiting, Khairy Jamaluddin will be anointed as UMNO Youth Chief, after an internal coup. This could even happen in the UMNO elections in December. In middle or late 2009, Khaled Nordin will give way to Khairy as Deputy President, after Khairy’s cronies have usurped all the key positions in UMNO and the government. By 2011, Badawi then makes way for Khairy to fulfil his lust for power!

tunku : about najib, there are chances of that to happen but kj to be pm so soon, i don't think so.khaled nordin maybe, that too after he announced his intention to go for vice president post this december 2008.

Another scenario is that Najib is in fact preparing for a massive nomination for President from the grassroots to outflank Badawi’s theatrics, and that Najib’s sycophancy as displayed at Dewan Merdeka, Putra World Trade Centre, on being “definitely and officially” anointed as the future Prime Minister was merely Najib’s shadow play (wayang kulit).

tunku : there is possibility as planned earlier but today najib has said that he will only defend his deputy post.

Then there is the Anwar Ibrahim factor and his patented theatrics to cover up his criminal past.
There are others. I will not dwell on them because all are irrelevant.
These three contenders are all baggage and very soon will be rejected by the masses, specifically the Malay masses for their treachery and betrayal. They have put their quest for personal power above all else, even at the expense of national security and national survival! Read on and be the judge.

tunku : anwar, he will never be the pm of malaysia.God still love malaysia.

Plunging Into The Hell Hole
Malaysia and Malaysians are plunging to the hell hole at Mach 3 speed and UMNO, the backbone of the Barisan Nasional could not be bothered. They are all consumed with the power grab and control of the nation’s money making machine. Pakatan Rakyat is irrelevant at this stage for reasons which I will explain later.
As stated earlier, how the Badawi Succession Theatrics play out will be irrelevant because of the financial mess created by the Badawi regime which has been aggravated further by the global financial tsunami. The Badawi regime cannot blame everything on external factors, as had the regime heeded all the warning signs of the financial tsunami since December 2006 and had taken adequate measures in anticipation of the crisis, Malaysia would have been able to get out of the hell hole and even survive.
The situation is getting worse with each passing day. And Badawi has not only thrown us into the hell hole, but he has also closed and locked the lid!

(i) The Parallel Economies
There are essentially two economies in Malaysia – the Bumiputera and the Non-Bumiputera economies. This is the stark reality and accusing me of racism etc. will not change this reality.
In fact, I dare say that I support the policies that gave rise to this state of affairs as at the then historical juncture (post 1969) when this policy was decided and implemented the country had no choice but to opt for this solution. I believe that the majority of the Non-Bumiputera community accepted the reality. The alternative was social chaos, bloodshed and eventually a failed state. No one came up with a better idea or policy than the NEP, NDP and the NVP! If there was one, I have not heard of it nor saw one in print.
Lim Kit Siang, Karpal Singh and the likes of Ambiga moaned and groaned but offered nothing in substance. There were a few economists in University Malaya, groomed in LSE and brainwashed by the Washington establishment who uttered the usual economic mantras and were duly rewarded with some plum overseas assignments, but could not deliver any meaningful research papers.
So arm-chair critics should just shut up!

tunku : i agree on this matter 100%

One of the greatest contributions of Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad was to recognize this political reality which he had inherited and through sheer perseverance and determination forged a mechanism to maintain the fine and delicate balance between the two economies until such time when Malaysia would mature and the two economies merged as one. We had uninterrupted peace, harmony and economic success for 22 years during his administration.
But all these successes have now been undermined by the Badawi regime. Besides his rhetoric about Islam Hadhari, peace and harmony, Badawi has fostered a system and mechanism to perpetuate his family’s and cronies’ hold on the levers of the nation’s money-making machine at the expense of all else!
Badawi and Khairy even had the audacity to attempt at dismantling Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad’s success and legacies.

(ii) The Bumiputera Economy
The Bumiputera economy, the outcome of the NEP is heavily government reliant via the various government agencies and government-linked companies (GLCs). There have been many successes and the Bumiputera community should be very proud of the several “economic crown jewels” e.g. Petronas, Proton, MISC, Putrajaya etc. Without this policy, Malaysia could not have achieved full employment and expanded the economic cake. This policy provided the social safety net at a time when the country was experiencing painful adjustments.
We had no nation building textbooks and there is no such thing as a “textbook for social engineering and economic development” that fits each and every country. What was required of our leaders was the innovative and pragmatic application and adaptation of general principles to the concrete and specific conditions in Malaysia – e.g. the GLCs were the chosen route to expedite the Bumiputera community to face the challenges of the private sector competitive advantages.
By all measures, we did very well.

tunku : very well said

(iii) The Weak Link
The weak link (the inverted pyramid structure) was the reliance on Petronas as the main engine to drive the Bumiputera economy. Again, the government of the day had no choice.
It was well and good when Petronas had abundance of oil and gas to export and the US economy was a net creditor (with a huge current account surplus). And with each oil price hike, monies poured into the national coffers. There was a surge in the Malay middle class, but they got complacent and were pampered.
But today, we are faced with a different scenario.
The US is the largest debtor country in the world and its current account deficit (in the US$ trillions) cannot be balanced at any time in the near future (i.e. 20 years minimum). The dollar is now toilet paper. Tan Sri Hassan Merican, Chairman and President of Petronas has warned that very soon (between 2010 to 2012) we will be net importer of oil. There is no Plan B for the Bumiputeras and their future generations when the oil tap runs dry. In the short term, there will be very painful adjustments and disillusionment. This is also a given.

(iv) Impact of the US$ Toilet Paper
Most of our exports are paid in US$ toilet papers - crude, palm oil, electronics etc., and Malaysia is at a huge disadvantage.
Let me explain to those who have no experience of selling goods overseas and getting paid in US$.
When a Malaysian exporter gets paid in US$, the company does not get physical dollars, like when one exchanges ringgit for US$ with the Money-Changer at the shopping mall or at the local bank.
The foreign importer’s bank transmits “digital money” – these are mere digits in the computer to the computer of your local bank holding the dollar account. So when the company wants ringgit, it will have to exchange the “digital dollars” for ringgit. This is done by the local bank via Bank Negara, our central bank. At any one time, Bank Negara either prints extra ringgit to exchange for the digital US$ or creates “credit digits” in the account of your local bank. When the exchange rate is RM3.8 to 1 US$, Bank Negara must create “new ringgit” to facilitate the exchange. As a result, there will be more ringgits in our economy and this is the principal cause for our domestic inflation!
This is also how Bank Negara accumulates our country’s foreign (dollar) reserves which I believe stands at approximately US$128 billion.
What this means is that the so-called mighty US is buying goods from all over the world for free. The US pays for its imports by creating digits in the computer as payment for the imports. When we say that the US is in a current account deficit, it means that the US is buying more than what it sells. To overcome the shortfall in revenue from its declining exports, the US Federal Reserve creates money out of thin air, by creating “digits” in their computers (i.e. digital money). It is a global fraudulent scam, but the US has been getting away with it for so many years, because it is a big bully and the US demands that countries must accept its “digits” or else face the threat of an invasion.

(v) When Dollar Goes Into Free Fall
When the dollar goes into a free fall, as it assuredly will, the value of our dollar reserves plunges. We may have US$128 billion worth of “digits” but they will not buy US$128 billion worth of anything.
The money from Petronas’s exports will be close to worthless. The money machine that has been supporting the Bumiputera economy will grind to a halt. This is the nightmare scenario which UMNO leaders are totally oblivious, except for a few former leaders.
UMNO is clueless and when the crisis finally sinks in, they will be perceived as irresponsible and traitors to the Malay community. They have all the instruments of power and authority but have done nothing, absolutely nothing since the Badawi take-over but to enrich themselves and prolong the ponzi scheme.
But the day of reckoning is fast approaching. And that is why I don’t give two hoots whether Badawi remains in power, or that Najib or Anwar becomes the substitute. They are all “Manchurian Candidates” brainwashed and incapable of providing the leadership that will rescue the Malay community from destitution.
tunku : "The economy is stable overall. Our trade sector... there is nothing to worry about. We continue to attract foreign investment and we are still a preferred investment destination," the prime minister said.He said Malaysia's economy also received positive feedback from other countries, most recently during the Group of Eight Islamic Developing Countries (D8) Summit in Kuala Lumpur, last week. sometimes i wonder if pak lah knows the actual scenario of the ecomy or just fooling others as on the ground it's very bad.
(vi) Malay Political Power
One of Mao Tse-Tung’s famous dictum is “political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.” The reality in Malaysia is that the Malay community controls the gun, as the overwhelming majority in the military and police force are Malays.
But there is another truism – one cannot survive on just air and water. Political power alone is meaningless if the community ends up as a basket case, as evident in many African states.
UMNO prides itself as the backbone of the ruling coalition and claims an almost inherent right to power and governance, as a result of 50 years of continuous power. And despite having control of the two triggers of offensive power, they still feel insecure and threatened.
If at all anybody should feel insecure, it should be the minorities.
Why this state of affairs and state of mind?
If this is the state of mind of the Bumiputera community, what more when the country is deep in the hell hole. There will be blood on the streets because UMNO and the Malay community have failed to provide effective leadership and the policies for adjustments.
It is of no consolation when the final calamity descends on us, for the people to hunt down the leaders responsible for the fiasco and lynch them from telegraph poles not unlike when the fascist leaders of the Mussolini regime were taken to task!

(vii) Self-Inflicted Death
No force, whether domestic or foreign can rob and take away a community’s achievements and self-respect. It took a Trojan horse to destroy and defeat the great army of Troy.
So the Bumiputera community should not blame others, foreign or domestic when the catastrophe visits them in the near future for want of leadership. The Bumiputera community has been warned time and time again but it has chosen to ignore reality and indulge in power grabs and political blood letting. There is still time yet, but only weeks to prevent this catastrophe.
There is only one leader who has all the credentials to lead the Bumiputera community away from the edge of the precipice.
I shall not name that leader. For if the Malays cannot identify who should be that leader, when it is so obvious to the Non-Bumiputeras, the Malays do not deserve such a leader.
They should be left to their own fate. It must surely be God’s will.
But I pray and hope that enlightenment will come soon to my Malay brothers and sisters. They deserve nothing but the best.
God willing!

tunku : again this matthias chang giving scary scenario of our nation but what he said could be very true.

Muhyiddin: Abdullah should allow Najib to learn the ropes

MUAR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi should start delegating responsibilities to his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to show that the power transition plan is taking shape.
Umno vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said this would also give Najib sufficient time to manage the party, the Barisan Nasional component parties, and the Government when the time arrived.
Speaking to reporters, he said it was vital for the power transition to be implemented as soon as possible to boost the confidence of party members and the people.
“We asked for the transition of power between the two top leaders and Umno supreme council has endorsed a date for the transition to take place in 2010.
“I said recently the time frame was too long and many things could happen that could further erode the peoples confidence of the Government,” he said after opening the Pagoh Umno group branches general meetings Sunday.
However, Muhyiddin said since the transition date had been endorsed, it would be appropriate for the Prime Minister to allow the Deputy Prime Minister to start learning the ropes, adding that all that he had said before was only aimed at re-strengthening Umno, Barisan and the Government.
He said Barisan needed to regain the people’s confidence after the recent polls in which it failed to retain a two-thirds majority in the parliament.
He said there were many reasons why Barisan lost in the general election and some were linked to the leadership leading to for a change.
The polls also showed that “Umno is no longer a powerful component party in Barisan and we need to take drastic measures to gain back the people’s confidence,” he said.
On party polls in December, Muhyiddin said it was still too early for him to decide on what post to contest but he would announce his plan in the next few weeks.

tunku : muhyiddin said that they had asked for the transition of power but pak lah said in utusan's interview(13/7/08) that it was him who suggested it. anyway abdullah should retire early, not 2010. let there be open contest in december 2008 so that the member could choose the leaders out of their own choice, not given to them.and the elected president will have enough time to prepare for the next general election. muhyiddin should demand najib to go for presidency post this december as were planned earlier by them. they can't back out just because pak lah has said he'll go in june 2010. a lot of things can happen in 2 years time.

Najib will not challenge Pak Lah in December 2008

Najib has confirmed in an interview with Utusan that he will not challenge Pak Lah,come what may. He is happy with the power transition. He is not a leader that like to challenge for any post.He prefers everything is given to him without a fight. He has backstabbed the coalition with Muhyiddin which were made earlier. They were supposed to team up. So those who are still hopin that najib will cahllenge the president post, forget about it.he is happy to be the next pm in june 2010(if he can).

Mahathir Considers Najib As The Best Umno Leader

PORT DICKSON, July 12 (Bernama) -- Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad praised Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as the best among the Umno leaders.
Dr Mahathir admitted that when he was the prime minister, he seldom heard of complaints of any wrongdoing by Najib. "He was the shining star among the Umno leaders, but now he the shine has dimmed a little," he told reporters after attending a `Programme With the Former Prime Minister' organised by the SMK Bukit Saujana Alumni Club Saturday.
Dr Mahathir said he observed that Najib's star was becoming `dimmer' because while the political situation was declining after the last general election, Najib appeared to be doing nothing. On the contrary, he preferred to remain silent rather than criticise Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
He feared that the transition of power in 2010 would not give enough time to Najib, who would then be the sixth Prime Minister, to carry out political rehabilitation before the 13th general election.
"Najib has only two years whereas he would have to repair his own credibility at the same time," Dr Mahathir added.

Ezam ready to divulge Anwar's secrets

SHAH ALAM: Former PKR youth chief Ezam Mohd Nor said he will divulge the secrets of PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibahim if he is linked to a political conspiracy over the sodomy report.
"If Anwar or (Datuk Seri Dr) Wan Azizah say that I am part of a conspiracy, I will in 24 hours swear as a Muslim that I will fight him," he said at a talk organised by the Shah Alam Umno division and non-governmental organisation (NGO) Alam Free Speech here on Friday night.
Ezam said he would divulge all he knew about Anwar although it would bring disgrace to his children and family as he wanted to defend his dignity after talks claimed that he received millions of ringgit to join Umno.
He added Anwar should concentrate on the sodomy police report made by his former personal assistant Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, 23, and not talk about a political conspiracy.
It should not be exaggerated to implicate Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak with murdered Mongolian woman Altantuya Shaariibuu.
He urged Umno members to defend the party and its leaders who were being "attacked" by Anwar. - Bernama

tunku : come on ezam, if you have the evidence on anwar, just expose it so the world will know the truth. why are you repeating your act when you were with pkr , you said that you had 6 boxes of evidence of umno leaders corrupt practice. just expose it if you have something on anwar. this is the best time to prevail the truth.by the way, you knew who is anwar last time but still fights for him.why??

Dr M : Handover Pact will Not Restore UMNO, BN

PORT DICKSON, July 12 — Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed today renewed calls for Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to step down immediately but said the no-confidence motion by the Opposition on Monday would not achieve this.
"Not in 2010, not in December, but now to give Datuk Seri Najib time to restore Umno," he told over 300 paying guests at Port Dickson Golf Club, referring to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak's agreement to take over then.
Dr Mahathir stated that Abdullah had inherited a strong party but in four years since the strong showing at the 2004 election had caused a sharp decline in the fortunes of BN.
"He cannot restore the party because what people want is for him to resign, and then the support will return to BN."
Despite this, the veteran politician called the attempt to table a no-confidence motion in Abdullah by the opposition "just a show" that would not achieve much.
"They would need BN MPs to take their side and only two from SAPP will join them. It would've been more effective if SAPP had submitted the motion themselves."
He also said Najib was a shining star before becoming deputy prime minister, after which he became a yes-man and lost his credibility.
"Will his support for Abdullah over the next two years make him stronger or weaker? He should be allowed to work with the grassroots immediately."
In his speech, the former prime minister also owned up to his mistake of appointing Abdullah as his successor but said that the blame should be shared by all Umno members as they had voted him in as vice-president II behind Najib while Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was deputy president.
"Abdullah had supported Tengku Razaleigh when he challenged me but delegates made him a supreme council member and then a vice-president. So after Anwar had to go, I appointed him because of the support he had and his Mr Clean image.
"But now we must fix this mistake. That is why I am not just sitting at home — I want to right my wrongs," Dr Mahathir added.
While he acknowledged that he believed Najib had made a pact with current vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, he refused to endorse the pact.
He claimed, however, that the 2010 date was a strategy by Abdullah to halt Najib's presidency bid and would lead to negative effects.
"What if Muhyiddin persists in running for deputy president? If he beats Najib, can he still be appointed prime minister? This will only extend the political uncertainty."
He also touched on V.K. Lingam and Tun Salleh Abas cases, calling both conspiracies to discredit him.
He also confirmed his belief that Anwar is a "good friend of America" as he met with Paul Wolfowitz, an influential pro-Israel American conservative, while in Munich after being released from prison and also constantly invited senators and members of congress to Malaysia when he was in government.
Former Kedah Menteri Besar Tan Sri Sanusi Junid, who quit Umno with Dr Mahathir earlier this year, was also present and quipped that if Abdullah could lose four states and Kuala Lumpur in four years, "God willing he will lose another three by 2010."

Furious Samy Vellu Walks Out From Dinner Reception

KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 (Bernama) -- The MIC President's Dinner, hosted for delegates attending the party's annual general meeting Saturday, ended 30 minutes earlier than scheduled, when some delegates were seen walking out of the function at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).
Furious at the rude exit of the delegates from the PWTC's Dewan Tun Razak, an annoyed Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu also left the function at 9.55pm.
Earlier, the former works minister vowed he would never organise a similar dinner reception, judging by the disinterest shown by the group of delegates who walked out of the dinner hall. "If you (delegates) think this function is a waste of time, then I apologise," said the party president.
About 2,800 delegates comprising party branch leaders, attended the dinner reception which was scheduled to end at 10.30pm.
According to a source who declined to be identified, the dinner reception became unruly when MIC Information chief Datuk M. Saravanan, who is also federal territories deputy minister, left the dinner reception. "As a result, some of his supporters were also seen leaving the premises with the deputy minister," he said.
Earlier, among those seated at the main dinner table with Samy Vellu were former MIC deputy president Datuk S. Subramaniam, secretary-general Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam, who is also human resources minister, deputy president Datuk G. Palanivel, vice-presidents Datuk S. Sothinathan and Datuk S. Veerasingam.

tunku ; that is a very clear sign, they don't want you, they want you to quit now but you have thick skin samy, no shame at all. at least pak lah skin is thinner than yours.he's going 2010 but you till now.......i don't have any more words for you samy.no shame at all.

PM's handover plan fails to silence critics

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's decision to step down in favour of his deputy in mid-2010 has not silenced calls for a prompt change of leadership after a drubbing in March elections.
Abdullah said yesterday he had struck an agreement with his deputy Najib Razak to hand over power, but first wanted the opportunity to implement reforms and projects promised since he came to office five years ago.
The premier has faced repeated calls to resign from within his ruling Umno, after unprecedented losses in the elections and a fuel price hike that triggered public outrage.
Although his announcement was aimed at silencing these dissident factions, and averting a challenge in Umno leadership polls in December, rumblings from within have already begun.
Muhyiddin has much to lose
Party vice-president Muhyiddin Yassin, a potential leadership contender who has much to lose under the deal, said some in the party preferred a quicker handover and wanted to decide their new leader for themselves.
"Some have expressed concern that if the duration is that long the situation will not become more convincing. This needs to be taken into account," Muhyiddin told state news agency Bernama.
"The election is still far. Why the haste to make the decision now," he said. Muhyiddin was tipped as a number-two to Najib after Abdullah's departure, but will now have to wait two years for a chance at the role.
Umno veteran Razaleigh Hamzah, a prince from Kelantan who wants to challenge Abdullah for the top job, also questioned the premier's right to hand over the party's leadership to Najib.
"It's improper for Abdullah to hand over any post as it is an elected post," he said.
"Many people are unaware that the PM must get permission from various institutions especially the King before doing this," he said.
Razaleigh told Malaysiakini yesterday that the handover was unconstitutional.
Abdullah's predecessor Dr Mahathir Mohamad, a staunch Najib ally who had a very public falling out with Abdullah, predicted that Najib will never become prime minister. "Although Najib was promised that a transition would take place in 2010, all kinds of accusations will be hurled at him so that Najib would appear unfit to even be deputy prime minister," Mahathir said in his blog. "One of Abdullah's more trusted lieutenants will take over and the new person won't take over as PM in 2010 due to a lack of experience so Abdullah will continue to rule until the next elections," he added.
Accusations could hamper Najib, Anwar
Najib and opposition figurehead Anwar Ibrahim are now gripped in a bitter political brawl, with both facing serious misconduct accusations that could prevent them from vying for the country's top post.
Najib has been forced to deny accusations that he had an affair with a Mongolian woman murdered in 2006, while Anwar faces new allegations of sodomy - the same charge he was jailed over a decade ago - which he says are fabricated by the government.
Analysts are divided over the need for a quick handover, which could end political uncertainty that has hampered Malaysia's financial markets.
"A faster departure means a new leader who can start making changes to the country," said analyst Azmi Sharom.
Some, however, think the prime minister needs time to deliver on the promises that he was punished in the general elections for not delivering.
"He is putting a time frame with enough time so that he will have a visible legacy and be remembered with kindness," said pollster Ibrahim Suffian from the Merdeka Centre.
"Abdullah needs to ensure that the changes cannot be rolled back by any successor," he told AFP.

tunku : first of all abdullah has no right to struck an agreement with his deputy Najib Razak to hand over power as Umno does not belongs to him.The 3 millions members should decide who they want as their president. Dr Mahathir did the mistake last time, when he named abdullah as the pm and Dr Mahathir himself admits that was his biggest mistake. Abdullah will never be remembered as a great leader of malaysia. however he will be remembered as a loser who lost 5+1 states to the opposition. he will be remembered for the worst performance of bn and umno. he's just buying time now for him to make popular decision so that he will be remembered but this will put his successor in hard times when facing the next GE as time is short. we must really think of what Dr Mahathir said, may be there will be new successor and abdullah will buy more time as the successor is inexperienced.

Anwar Demands Apology From Syed Hamid

KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 (Bernama) -- Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar was Friday served a letter of demand to retract his remarks that Parti Keadilan Rakyat de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was a 'snitch' (informer) for the United States.
According to the letter of demand, Syed Hamid has 48 hours to apologise to Anwar, beside an undertaking not to repeat the allegation.
If Anwar failed to receive a satisfactory reply, his counsel S. N. Nair said his instructions were to institute legal proceedings against the minister, demanding RM100 million in damages for causing injury to the PKR leader's reputation.
Speaking at a press conference at his office here, Nair said Syed Hamid's remarks and subsequent comments published in The Star newspaper had portrayed his client as a traitor, disloyal to the country, an American spy and an untrustworthy person.
Meanwhile, Anwar will give a statement to the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) on Monday over his police report against Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan and Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail.
Nair said the statement would be over Anwar's police report that Musa and Abdul Gani had fabricated evidence against him over his "black-eye" incident in 1998.
In a related development, Nair said Anwar had so far, failed to obtain a copy of the police report lodged by Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan who had alleged he was sodomised by the PKR de facto leader.
He said he had applied for a copy of the report from the Brickfields police headquarters on June 29, a day after the report was lodged.
Nair said initially, after several reminders, the police had agreed to provide the copy on July 3. However, the following day, an officer from the district police headquarters told him the police could not provide the copy since investigations were underway.
"We are just hearing what was alleged by Mohd Shaiful in the report via media but until today, we don't have any knowledge of what actually was stated in the police report," added the counsel.
In the police report lodged on June 28, Saiful had accused Anwar of sodomising him. So far, police have recorded statements from 18 people but no statement was taken from Anwar.

tunku : what reputation has anwar got?? he abused power when he was deputy pm, he sodomized azizan and co. now with the saiful's accusation, what reputation he has?? syed hamid will never apologize as he did not mention that anwar is a spy, he said anwar reports to Us.this moron is getting crazier day by day.

BADAWI MUST GO BY END OF JULY. WE DO NOT HAVE TWO YEARS, NOT EVEN MONTHS, BUT ONLY WEEKS TO PREPARE FOR CATASTROPHE

By Matthias Chang
Future FastForward

Badawi has announced that he will retire in June of 2010.
We do not have the luxury for him to retire in 2010. Badawi must go now and I say this not because of any personal animosity but for reasons of national security.
The government under the leadership of Badawi is utterly irresponsible as it has failed to make any preparations to protect Malaysia from the global financial crisis. The Cabinet is in a state of paralysis because the Captain does not know what to do.
Whatever measures taken thus far to shield the effects of rising prices is but the treatment of symptoms and not the disease! Bank Negara is in total denial!
FINAL WARNING
If Badawi as Prime Minister and Finance Minister, together with Tan Sri Zeti as Governor of Bank Negara do not take immediate measures to diversify our entire US$ reserves to other currencies and metals [euro, renminbi and gold] within the next six weeks [in any event before the end of summer 2008] to cushion the effects when the dollar crashes, I call upon the entire nation to do the following:
1) Demand that Badawi and Zeti resign from their respective positions;
2) Demand that Badawi and Zeti be charged for treason;
3) Demand that all their personal and family assets wherever situated be confiscated;
4) Demand that Capital and Exchange Controls be reintroduced;
5) Demand that banks be prohibited in the foreclosures of any homes pledged to banks as security for any bank borrowings and the imposition of penalty interest on any non-performing loans for a period of two years, subject to review;
6) Demand a moratorium of legal action by credit card companies / banks from recovery of default payments by cardholders and all interest on any outstanding for a period of one year subject to review;
7) Demand total price control of all essential food items;
8) Demand the immediate imposition of rationing of petrol and diesel;
9) Demand that the government provide immediate unemployment benefits to those earning less than RM1,500 per month and who are sole income earner for the family;
10) Demand that all security personnel (police and military) from the rank of sergeant and below be given a special subsistence allowance;
11) Demand that toll charges be reduced by 25% and the abolition of road tax;
12) Demand that pensioners be given a special subsistence allowance;
13) Demand that a 200% increase in taxes for all imported cars [commercial vehicles exempted], luxury goods, alcohol and cigarettes be imposed immediately.
14) Demand the maximum penalties for all hoarders, speculators and stock market manipulators and if need be amend the law to allow for custodial sentences.
The above drastic actions need to be taken if we are to protect our citizens from the financial turmoil that will surely impact on Malaysia when the dollar goes into a free fall, which is expected to occur within six to eights weeks.
Should the dollar’s free fall be delayed for any reason, then expect the implosion to take place soon after the Beijing Olympics. China cannot afford to continue to hold on to the toilet paper (US$) when other countries are dumping them.
Before condemning me for this dire warning, please, please, I beg you my fellow citizens, to do the necessary research.
The information is all out there in cyberspace. It is all available in the internet.

tunku : very scary scenario will be coming on our way.well let us dig for more info on this matter and we hope our leaders will take necessary action before things get worst.

'Some Say Transition Period Too Long' says Muhyiddin

TOKYO, July 10 (Bernama) -- Umno vice president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said some quarters were of the view that the power transition period in Umno planned for 2010 was too long.
"Some have expressed concern that if the duration is that long the situation will not become more convincing. This needs to be taken into account," he said.

tunku : not some tan sri but majority saying that it's too long.

He said there were party members who believed that it would be better for members of the party themselves decide on the question of leadership of the party.
"We will see. The election is still far. Why the haste to make the decision now? But never mind, the election starts in October; so at that time each Umno division surely will see whether they like the decision or they have their own views," he said.
Muhyiddin who is leading a six-day trade and investment mission to Japan is commenting on Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's announcement to hand over the posts of Umno president and Barisan Nasional chairman to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in the middle of 2010.
Muhyiddin said he hoped any decision made the Umno Supreme Council would not stop others from making decisions they deemed best for them.
He said that if Umno was still practising the democratic system, it surely would not prevent party members from voicing out on what was best for them and the party.

tunku : we hope that others will satnd up but again "money politics" will be at its best again.

He said decisions made by the Supreme Council should be respected. "But no less important was the views of each Umno member representing the branches and divisions. They have wants... they have aspirations.. they also have hopes... expectations," he said.

tunku: nowadays, only the voice of the leaders(that are bought) are heard , the grassroots has no say.may be at branch level the decide something else, but when it comes to division, it changes.

Asked on whether he had decided on the post he would be contesting, Muhyiddin said: "We have to see members' reaction to the Supreme Council's decision first. My decision is not important."

tunku : go all out tan sri. we believe that if you dare to challenge pak lah or najib, victory is YOURS provided in a fair fight.go for it tan sri .you are the only hope that the grassroot have.

Ku Li: Umno members should decide

BACHOK: It is not right for Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to hand over the top post to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak because it should be left to Umno members to decide who their next leader should be, Umno veteran member Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah said.
He said the post of the party president did not belong anyone.
He said party members should be the ones deciding the next president of the party.
“It is improper for Abdullah to hand over any post as it is an elected post,” he said after meeting Umno branch members here Thursday.

tunku : you are very right Ku Li. We had enough of the transition thing.it's not up to the president to decide but it's up to the majority through the poll.

Najib Touched When Named As Abdullah's Successor

KUALA LUMPUR, July 10 (Bernama) -- Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak said he was very touched with Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's willingness to hand over the posts of Umno president and Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman to him in mid-2010.
The Deputy Prime Minister said the decision made by the Prime Minister was not something easy.
"Today starts an orderly and neat power transition process according to Umno traditions when the Prime Minister gave the confidence in me to become the successor. "It is not easy to relinquish a post but it was made having regard to public opinion. I feel touched and fortunate when the Right Honourable gave the trust to me," he told reporters after the Umno Supreme Council meeting and special briefing for the party's divisional leaders here Thursday.

tunku : the grassroot did not expect this from you najib.you always want to play safe and i can be sure now that you will lose their support from now on.before this you directed you mans to push the divisions to nominate you as president but suddenly you turn 360 degrees.for you 2 years is nothing but for the rakyat it's something like 20 years in hell.

Najib said his relationship with Abdullah was very close throughout and hoped this would continue because Umno needed solid support from past and present leaders and its members.
"The leadership process can be made in good ways without disregarding traditions or something which gives a negative image to Umno or the voters," he said.
He said that during the power transition period, "the Prime Minister will determine the role and plan" and he would always regard Abdullah as his boss.
Najib also announced his readiness to defend his deputy president's post in Umno's December elections and hoped for a solid support from party members.
"I am asking for a solid support given to the Prime Minister's nomination as party president and I appeal for the transition plan to be accepted by the party because it is the party's voice that will determine everything," he said.

tunku : those who nominates pak lah as president will be the one who will put umno's future in the dark.as for najib he can start dreaming from now on to be pm in june 2010 but he should not forget anything can happen from now to june 2010.najib you betrayed us but there is still time for you to make changes or else you will be cursed.

Pak Lah Stays till June 2010

Pak Lah: I will step down in 2010

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will step down as Prime Minister in June 2010 and hand over power to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Abdullah who is Umno president, however said he would still seek nomination to contest the party's top post during the December party election and that Najib who is his deputy would still go for the number two party post.
He said he would not be leading Barisan Nasional into the next general election because by that time the country would have Najib as the new Prime Minister.

tunku : because he knows that if he leads bn will be history.

"I plan to hand over the leadership to Najib in mid 2010. I appreciate his friendship and co-operation and we work well together in the party and government.
"Najib as the deputy has carried out all the duties I have entrusted him to so I most certainly am happy to hand over the post to him when the time comes.
"I chose Najib to be my successor because I am confident that he will be able to lead the party well," he told a packed press conference Thursday evening.

tunku : 2 years won't be enough for najib to do the necessary action to bring back the glorious days of BN. we are not sure yet whether pak lah will keep najib as his deputy till 2010.he may be replaced by others.

Abdullah made the announcement after chairing an Umno supreme council meeting and another briefing with division chiefs and leaders from the Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings.
He believed the Umno divisions accepted his transition plan well because "they gave me a standing ovation."
Abdullah admitted that he felt a little sad over his decision to quit as Prime Minister.
"I feel a bit of sadness of course but nothing more than that because I feel more a sense of achievement. I feel I have taken an action which has been well accepted and that is what we want."

tunku : we are more sad that you are staying till June 2010.YOU SHOULD GO NOW.there's no single achievement by you to this nation.its all rebranding.

He said he felt that the transition of leadership should be carried in a process, which was well accepted by Umno so that the successor "can be the leader of the whole party and not to half a party or to geng dia saja (only his gang of supporters)."

tunku : you want the leader to be accepted by the whole party , then step down before december and let the president post open for contest, then only the leader will be accepted by whole party.

He believed that if there was a contest for the top post, it usually resulted up in some confusion among members and a feeling of unease on the losing side.
Abdullah said his transition plan was an approach, which was best for all because that way there would be no upheavals in the party and there would no need to take time to repair it.
"From that point of view, I see it as a blessing and I feel thankful that I have made a good decision for the party," he said.

tunku : very bad decision, good decision will be resigning before december 2008.

Abdullah denied he was bowing out due to pressure.
He said there were many differing view with some asking him to continue to lead Barisan into the next general election.
"What is important is what I feel in this matter. One day, I have to handover my post to my successor and this is the way I choose. It is a process and this process takes some time and it is comfortable for all."

tunku : we are not small children that will buy out your story.the whole world knows majority of malaysian hates you as our pm.

Explaining why he chose the two-year time frame, Abdullah said, this would give him enough time to carry out the various projects and programmes, which he had planned together with Najib, and also time to strengthen and restore the party.

tunku : enough time for you to plan for your retirement, make more money.

"It will also give Najib ample time to prepare and be ready for the general elections which must be held by 2013," he added.
He added that in the process Najib would have the opportunity to attend a number of forums and meetings that he (Abdullah) as Prime Minister normally attend.

tunku : if you step down now, najib can also be the acting president and pm till the contest in December 2008.he has more experience than you.

To a question about whether his plans to handover power to Najib would be affected in view of the deputy Prime Minister's alleged links to the Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu, Abdullah brushed it aside, saying that was a completely separate issue.

tunku : who is the person behind this allegations???

"This is the decision at the party level. And I make the decision in the belief that Najib will be a good successor and will be able to lead the party," he said.
On whether his pledge to reform the judiciary and the anti-corruption agency would be in place by the time he leaves office in 2010, Abdullah said: "Yes, insya Allah. There are a lot of things that need to be done. I have promised a lot of things that I should do. There are many things that I need to do."
To a question whether he would take a complete break from any role in government after leaving office, he said: "you wait for that. When it happens you will know."
To a question whether his successor would continue all projects started by Abdullah, he said, he believed that those that produced good results would go on.
"But I will not insist. Once someone else takes over and runs the government, he (the new Prime Minister) will be running it in the way that he thinks best."
"But I believe what is good is good and will be continued. That doesn't mean it can't be value-added and that other programme don't need to be created anymore. It's up to the wisdom of the new leader."
Asked whether he would change his mind about quitting, Abdullah said: "No. I have made my decision."
Abdullah said the supreme council meeting did not making any ruling that there should be no contest for the presidency and deputy presidency posts, adding that divisions were still free to nominate whoever they wanted.
He also denied his decision to step down was a victory for the opposition.

tunku : its a victory to the whole nation.

"They can do whatever they want. I will get up and face them. What they want to do is get rid of me as soon as possible and to get rid of the Barisan government itself."
"The practice of democracy with Parliament and an election like that is not enough for them. They are still greedy," he added.
Kedah liasion chief Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid who chaired a state liaison meeting in KL last night was the first state to endorse the transition plan

tunku : what you expect from pak lah's gang.mahadzir khalid will even lick pak lah's shoes.

No-Confidence Motion A Political Gimmick - Khairy

KUALA LUMPUR, July 10 (Bernama) -- The attempt by the opposition to table a motion of no-confidence against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is a mere political gimmick to divert the people's attention on the problem faced by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
"After the police report was lodged against him, Anwar was looking for 1,001 reasons to divert the people's attention and I believe the no-confidence motion is one of them," said Umno Youth vice chief Khairy Jamaluddin.
Khairy said he did not know the basis of the emergency motion of no-confidence filed against Prime Minister at the Dewan Rakyat Speaker's office Thursday as there was no leadership crisis in the country.
"We have enough majority, very big and there is no leadership crisis in the government," he told reporters after attending a close-door briefing by Umno president and deputy president to Umno divisional leaders as well as leaders of the party's three wings -- Wanita, Youth and Puteri -- at Dewan Merdeka, Putra World Trade Centre here Thursday.

tunku : regarding anwar, we knows him very well. about pak lah ,your father in-law , we knows him very well too. both are morons. i support the no confidence motion against pak lah only not the bn government. pak lah should resign now not in 2 years time.kj has no credibility to defence his father in law.

Special Umno briefing: Handover to be discussed

KUALA LUMPUR: Anticipation is high that Umno president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will make an important announcement on the leadership transition in Umno when he meets the party grassroots at a special briefing Thursday afternoon.
Abdullah is expected to make his specific statement yet on the timing of the transition at the 5pm meeting.
Sources said that June 2010 has been considered as a possible date for him to hand over power to his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
However, the specifics will also depend on the discussions at an Umno supreme council meeting which will precede the special briefing.

tunku : this is what pak lah wants, he wants to stay another 2 years and make his successor life difficult when he faces the next GE.In 2 years time lots of thing can happened.maybe he won't quit , giving excuse that rakyat are with him, najib could be sacked, there are lot possibilities as the time frame is too long.pak lah should go now before the majority get fed up with Umno.najib and muhyiddin should stand now and act before it will bee too late.though the opposition is not a good deal for the rakyat but given no choice , they will vote for them.so now it is umno members responsibilty to change things before its too late.he is hoping by announcing his retirement 2010, there will be no contest for presidency post and of course the deputy post. may be they'll come up with resolution that there will be no contest for the top two post.if that happens then i would like to pledge umno to make pak lah president for life(presiden seumur hidup).

Dr Mahathir declines Kedah adviser post

ALOR STAR: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has turned down an offer to become adviser to the Kedah state government.
Mentri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak said Dr Mahathir declined the offer, saying Umno would never recapture Kedah if he started advising the state.
Azizan said he offered Dr Mahathir the post during a meeting at Dr Mahathir’s residence in Kuala Lumpur recently.
“We want what is best for Kedah. We should put aside our political differences to formulate strategies to ensure Kedahans have a better future,’’ he said.
Azizan said he believed in open policies that transcend political boundaries.
Azizan said Dr Mahathir advised him to continue with what he had done so far.
“I have put a stop to unnecessary draining of state funds.
“I have taken measures to check corrupt practices. We only deal with matters over the table and not under the table,’’ he said.
Azizan, who is also state PAS commissioner, assured supporters that his meeting with Dr Mahathir had nothing to do with politics.

tunku : that is clear message from tun, he wants umno to rule not pas.

Happy Birthday To Both Great People

Anwar urges Rudd to promote democracy on KL visit

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim today urged Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to push the cause of democracy and rule of law during a visit to Malaysia tomorrow.
"I trust Rudd will convey to Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to respect the rule of law and stop intimidating opposition politicians," he told AFP.
Anwar is fighting sodomy accusations levelled by a former aide, 23-year-old Mohamad Saiful Bukhari Azlan, which he says have been fabricated by the government to prevent him from seizing power after landmark March elections.
"I am 60-years-old. I have a granddaughter. I hope they stop these allegations," he said.
"Abdullah needs to be told that he cannot use institutions like the police and the attorney-general's office and the judiciary to intimidate witnesses and fabricate evidence."
Mohamad Saiful has been under police protection since accusing Anwar of sodomising him - the same charge that saw the opposition leader jailed a decade ago.
Anwar not worried by Rudd's decision
Rudd arrives in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday on his first visit as prime minister.
News reports have said he had considered meeting with Anwar but decided against it because of the potential political backlash.
Former prime minister John Howard backed Anwar during his trial for sodomy and corruption in 1998 but it worsened a political rift between the two countries.
Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who as leader sacked Anwar in 1998, announced Howard was not welcome for the 1998 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit in Malaysia.
Anwar said that he was not worried by Rudd's decision not to meet him.
"It is OK. I did not make a request to meet Rudd," he said.
‘Maybe at another time'
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Rais Yatim said the itinerary for the Australian Prime Minister was simply too filled with official and governmental matters as to allow any time to meet Anwar.
"As such, there is no space for him, what more when the time (available) is too limited for him to meet individuals such as Anwar or other quarters such as NGOs and so forth," Rais said at a press conference in Parliament lobby today.
Perhaps, Rais added, there would be other occasions for Rudd to meet the former deputy prime minister-turned opposition leader such as in a personal capacity.
"But in this context, the visit is only one day. He will arrive in the morning, and he will depart the following evening, so there is no chance for other interactions," said Rais.
Rudd is scheduled to meet the King Mizan Zainal Abidin, Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi as well as attend to other programs arranged by the Australian High Commission, he added.

tunku : why anwar wants rudd to tell abdullah how to run this country? rudd has no business to tell abdullah on how to run this country, only the MALAYSIAN can tell him that.it's obvious this foreign agent(anwar) is getting crazier day by day as he's trying hard to escape from the accusation.if you know that you're 60years old and have a granddaughter then better change your habits.everyday with new drama.this drama queen is well experienced in staging drama. for me, let rudd see anwar ,maybe rais ministry can arrange their meeting , nothing great about it and it doesn't make any difference. if he wants to see bush too, let him.

Ahmad Shabery Believes Fuel Debate Will Benefit Public

KUALA LUMPUR, July 9 (Bernama) -- Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek said he believes his debate with Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on July 15 will help the public to better understand why the government had to raise fuel prices last month.
He said that as the information minister it was his responsibility to provide an explanation to the people on issues in the country and that there should not be any anxiety that the government was taking a risk by holding the debate.
"I see Anwar as a bigger risk as he always assumes he is a great leader with many followers.
"The debate is also an opportunity for me to tell the people that his (Anwar's)ways are wrong and that he is not that great," Ahmad Shabery told Bernama at the Parliament lobby.
He admitted that the debate was something new in the country and there was bound to be concern among some of the people.
Yesterday, the up-coming debate received mixed reaction from parliamentarians.
Some backbenchers wanted the debate to be called off because they felt that it would not resolve any problem or change the differing views and that there was a possibility that Anwar would use it to further confuse the public.
The debate, themed "Form the Government Today, Lower Fuel Prices Tomorrow" and organised by news portal Agenda Daily, is scheduled to be held at the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka here.
Several TV stations have expressed interest in broadcasting it live.

tunku : this debate should be carry on and we hope there is no cancellation. anwar had said that he wants to debate with pak lah or najib but if they are afraid then he's willing to debate with the ministers. for me anwar is only eligible to debate with assistant ministers level and lower. who he think he is? he is not pkr's president, hence he can't demand to have a debate with other party president.shabery has accepted the challenge and anwar should be grateful enough for that.

Anwar lodges report with FT religious dept against Saiful

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday lodged a report with the Federal Territory religious department against Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan for falsely accusing him of fornication.
This was in response to Saiful's police report, lodged on June 28, alleging Anwar had sodomised him at a condominium in Damansara.
Under Islamic Syariah Law, if Saiful fails to produce four witnesses to the alleged sodomy he can be found guilty and fined RM5,000 or jailed not more than three years, or both.

tunku : anwar knows saiful will never be able to produce 4 witnesses, that's why he lodged report at religious department.well, he can lodge report anywhere, he still has to face the civil suit(if any).

BADAWI CANNOT BE TRUSTED WHEN IT COMES TO FINANCIAL MATTERS AND OUR ECONOMY

BADAWI CANNOT BE TRUSTED WHEN IT COMES TO FINANCIAL MATTERS AND OUR ECONOMY! RM 5,000 TO ANYONE WHO CAN SHOW THAT THE MUCH-TOUTED 5 DEVELOPMENT CORRIDORS WERE PART OF THE 9TH MALAYSIA PLAN WHEN LAUNCHED ON 31/03/06

Future FastForward, Tuesday,

Badawi’s Complaint

The headlines of the Sun newspaper screamed: “It’s treachery: PM Abdullah slams slander and lies spread in cyberspace.”
Badawi is quoted as saying:
“Conduct attributed to the truth is not appreciated. What is appreciated is the perception, and along with it the lies. Perception negates the truth. The truth is no longer talked about. The important thing is the perception.”
In my previous articles, I have exposed the lies and misrepresentation of Badawi and his cahoots.
Therefore, can the rakyat be blamed for calling him a liar and or perceived as a dishonest Prime Minister. The issue of the price hike for petrol is just one example. Prior to the General Elections, he said that there would be no more price hike for the remainder of the year. He then raised the price of petrol and assured us that there would not be anymore increase till end of 2008. A week later, Datuk Shahrir Samad, said that the price will hold until August only.
My Challenge to Badawi
Prove to me in an Open Public Debate that when you announced the 9th Malaysia Plan, the Economic Planning Unit had incorporated your super-mega projects more commonly known as the five development corridors in the said 9th Malaysia Plan.
Please show me where were the allocations in the 9th Malaysia Plan for all these development corridors.
Since I am not very clever with figures and do not have the benefit of experts, I may not have read properly and or understood the 9th Malaysia Plan.
So, I am more than willing to prove myself wrong by offering a RM5,000 reward to anyone who can show me with documentary evidence that your super-mega projects referred to above have been budgeted for in the 9th Malaysia Plan.
You have therefore an advantage in this public debate to determine whether you are dishonest in your public announcements and that you indulge in spin to gain popularity and public approval.
Notice to the Public
If you have any documentary evidence from the 9th Malaysia Plan to support the contention that the super-mega projects have been budgeted, and formally and expressly stated in the 9th Malaysian Plan, a reward of RM5,000 will be paid to the first person to deliver the evidence by courier service to my solicitors(Matthias Chang)at:
Messrs Suhaimi Khor Zulkifli & Chang
Suite 10.01, 10th Floor
Plaza Permata
Jalan Kampar
50400 Kuala Lumpur

Rules for Eligibility:
1) You must be an adult of 21 years and above.
2) The documentary evidence must be found within the pages of the 9th Malaysia Plan as published by the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister Department and not in any other documents not considered part of the 9th Malaysia Plan.
3) The names of the 5 development corridors must be directly referred to in your documentary evidence.
4) The evidence must be couriered to the above address, properly dated and signed by you. You must also provide your NRIC number and address.
5) The documentary evidence must be a certified true copy of the relevant page or ages of the 9th Malaysia Plan and duly certified and attested by a Commissioner for Oaths.
6) My decision as to who is the first person to have provided the evidence shall be final and conclusive and not subject to any challenge whatsoever in any legal proceedings or otherwise.
7) Payment will be made within 48 hours from the date of announcement in my website as to the person who succeeded in proving the above challenge.
8) This invitation is for the duration of 7 days from the date of posting in my website and shall expire at the end of the 7th business day.

In the Event No Evidence is Adduced
In the event that no one in Malaysia can establish that Badawi’s super-mega projects are part of the 9th Malaysia Plan, I would be most obliged if you could write to me to confirm that you share my contention that the rakyat is entitled to hold the view and to perceive Badawi as being dishonest and that he resorts to spin and propaganda to gain popularity and public approval.
I thank you in anticipation.
Do not be intimidated. Be resilient and fight for honesty and transparency!

tunku : anyone has what he's asking for? this is chance for you to make RM5k but i doubt there is any evidence on it.we share matthias chang contention that the rakyat is entitled to hold the view and to perceive Badawi as being dishonest and that he resorts to spin and propaganda to gain popularity and public approval.
