Floods: Twelve schools closed in Sarawak

A dozen schools in flood-hit Sarawak have been closed, the state Education Department confirmed Monday.

Welfare, Women and Family Development Minister Datuk Fatimah Abdullah told The Star the affected schools were either flooded, closed due to submerged roads, or being used as evacuation centres.

"Our preliminary report shows 12 schools. More information will be available at 11.30am," Fatimah told The Star.

The schools that are closed are:

* Bau - SK Suba Buan

* Padawan - SJK Chung Hua Batu Kitang and SK St Mathew Mundai

* Limbang - SK Ukong

* Mukah - SK Kuala Kenyana

* Baram - SK Long Tungan, SK Long Bemang and SK Long Panai

* Serian - SMK Tebakang

* Lawas - SK Luagan

* Daro - SK Bawang Tian and SK Orang Kaya Sergunim Matu.
