Participants of illegal gathering face prosecution: IGP

KLANG: Police have warned that legal action will be taken against anyone attending an unlawful gathering sponsored by Hindraf that is expected to be held at the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) Sunday.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said Saturday that no permit had been issued for the gathering, and anyone attending it would be breaking the law.
Police had rejected an application to hold the gathering on the grounds that it would jeopardise public order.
However, the organisers who are connected to Hindraf, the banned Hindu Rights Action Force, were expected to go ahead with the gathering.
Ismail said such a gathering would adversely affect security and disrupt public order, especially if it were held at a place like the KLCC, where many people converged during weekends.
"To those involved in organising the gathering, I give the reminder not to hold it. It will not only be against the law, but will inconvenience people and traders and cause traffic congestion," he told reporters after a ground-breaking ceremony for a surau here.
Earlier, in his speech, Ismail said incitement and extremist demands could cause rifts among communities and arouse hatred for one another.
He said there should be early education on the need for tolerance and mutual respect in building a nation.
Meanwhile, in Temerloh, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said he had directed Ismail to personally monitor the situation and take firm action if Hindraf created trouble.
"He will be responsible for ensuring that the illegal organisation does not jeopardise the (security) situation," he told reporters after nominations for the March 6 Kerdau by-election.
Hishammuddin said he believed the organisers were trying to create an atmosphere that was being witnessed in the Middle East, but Malaysia was a different situation altogether, and they were not getting the response they wanted.
"We know their intentions, we know that certain quarters are trying to bring about sentiments of the kind we see in the Middle East.
"But the situation here is different and it is not heading in that direction," he said. - Bernama

tunku : show no mercy to the illegal gathering. malaysia is not like some countries where there is no platform for anyone to voice their demand.here we have political parties, ngo and above all we have election every five years. do not create trouble and chaos in the country just because of personal gain.i am sure that hindraf is not acting by its own in this illegal gathering.pakatan rakyat has its hand in it.we hope the police will take stern action on those who stage illegal gatherings.the people are fed up with this.it is bad for the businesses and also for all.

Kerana pertahankan kontroversi sebuah buku novel Melayu, sudah bagi modal untuk lain pihak timbulkan masalah ketenteraman awam.
Tak adakah lain buku novel Melayu yang lebih sesuai dipakai kat sekolah?
Mana pi otak-otak pemimpin kita?

Pasal Ego ke maruah?

Hehehe..anon 12:19,
komen awak ni sama je macam komen kat bloh Paneh Miang. Mesti orang yang sama. So saya pun nak ulang balik persoalan yang sama. Jangan jadi terlalu BENGAP!!

Dear Tunku,

Man does not live by free and fair elections alone. How this free and fair principle is administered in between elections is more important then the free and far elections itself.

1. It's high time our country enforces stricter, perhaps even more draconian steps, to curb illegal demonstrations by illegal bodies. Stop this menace once and for all ! Our neighbour certainly has everything under control simply by NOT allowing dissidents to take the law into their own hands. Here in Malaysia, we are too soft , too forgiving and too much of this 'give and take' syndrome ! The problem is really people are simply "taking" without even an iota of wanting to give !

2. For countless times the ingrates have been behaving as if they have nothing to be grateful for in this country. If challenging the country's laws and all government agencies is a manifestation of typical unruly behaviour of disloyalty and lack of patriotism, then these bodies, groups or parties are really doing a good job at it i.e as dissidents who must be severely punished within the ambit of the law. As espoused above, no matter how tough or draconian it may seem to be, the laws must explicitly and unhesitatingly be enforced without fear or favour !

3. The Ministry or Minister in charge of curbing street violence must be made of sterner stuff. Political considerations should NOT be made an excuse for deliberate in-action. Lest we are accused of being too soft far too often, the authorities must get on with their enforcement strategies which must never be compromised at whatever costs. Go to blazes with world views for they who seem to offer advice or even words of caution are themselves culprits and certainly guilty of undemocratic practices in their own countries ! Our own stability and peace is far more important than having to 'kow-tow' to the powers that be !

4. On another note, why should the authorities waste so much time to entertain provocations and deliberate attempts at turning a non-issue into something very racially-sinister by irresponsible groups out to only muster political support! We are must be careful, extra careful and more cautious lest we fall into their trap. Imagine playing up to the issue of an author using a word which in the first place was not even from his mother-tongue. If the word as presented in the dictionaries describe somebody or a group from a lower caste (in their religion)as such, then why all the fuss ? Now we are presented with a certain race madly " demonstrating" over a word which originally came from their own language ; thus making it so absurd blaming the author for just using a word taken from their language ! But we do know these street mobsters would find any excuse just so they can protest and create havoc and turmoil in the streets.

5. AND BRINGING IN 45000 INTO THE COUNTRY WOULD NOT HELP EITHER ! We are courting trouble, more trouble and more trouble !!! Are the authorities aware OR are they just playing the waiting game ; waiting for the bomb to explode and then suddenly demonstrating urgency and care as if surprised at the turn of events ? This attitude MUST stop ! Like they say, it's the gentle breeze, cool and soothing, that will finally lull the monkey into a state of semi-consciousness that will eventually send him crashing down to his death !
