Najib: BN To Study Causes Of Defeat In Permatang Pasir

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said Barisan Nasional (BN) will study the causes of its defeat in today's Permatang Pasir state by-election in Penang.
He said that the BN lost the by-election despite having tried its best due to certain factors.
Najib, who is Umno president, said he knew what the factors were but declined to elaborate.
He said that the BN would take stock of the situation and ensure that the party would do better the next time around.
"We should look into the factors which we can improve on," he said when asked to comment on the result of the by-election today.
PAS retained the seat with a 4,551-vote majority.
Its candidate Mohd Salleh Man, 52, polled 9,618 votes while BN's Rohaizat Othman, 38, garnered 5,067 votes.
Najib also took note of the fact that the BN managed to reduce PAS' majority in the area.
In the 2008 general election, PAS candidate Datuk Mohd Hamdan Abdul Rahman defeated BN's Ahmad Sahar Shuib with a majority of 5,433 votes.
The by-election was called following Mohd Hamdan's death on July 31.

tunku : i think everyone is fed up with the quote " we will study the causes of defeats" or "we will do postmortem".NAJIB, WAKE UP.we know that permatang pasir is a pas(pakatan) strong hold and pas will surely wins there but still BN could have done better.hope that najib won't be studying till the 13th GE comes.

Agree, Najib should have announced specific measures to be taken.

My view is that BN or UMNO had selected a wrong candidate. Whilst it was an easy job at the beginning it had ended up as a bit tougher than it was first imagined.

Nothing personal. A man lesser burden is to work free from any wrongdoing, or persist as one.

What's a bad luck.

I think KJ statement on the Pemuda PAS & PKR will vote for UMNO is the main reason.

Distribute the nations' wealth and ensure it reaches the voters.

BN termasuk jentera Kerajaan, jangan tunjuk lagak sangat semasa berkhidmat.

Najib dan Pak Menteri, jangan sekadar masa kempen saja masuk rumah orang miskin! So many of them ARE voters dan pada bulan puasa ini, sekadar berbuka makan nasi dan ikan kering saja!

GO OUT AND SEE HOW THE RAKYAT ARE SUFFERING.. and these are the ones who makes the BULK of the VOTERS!

You are all spending so much UP THERE and giving so LITTLE DOWN HERE! Narrow the GAP!

May it be in terms of assistance or service. Just not worth the pay and allowances you are collecting each month.

Major caused: We selected our candidate based on what we want NOT what the voters wanted.

Remember the voters need actual is plain and simple....They wanted a candidate that they can trust and that could help them.

Our TPM Mahyuddin is making another mistake by blaming the voters. Equaivalent their rejection for Rohaizat as rejection for development. WRONG.

The other day TPM Mahyuddin labelled Anvar as PENGKHIANAT NEGARA. That already isolated Anvar millions of supporters from us. Create more divide Malay community.

TPM behaving like a naked person in the middle of the road. Making everybody with decent thought to run away or going different way.

Stop blaming and start improving. We must offer our voters more values for their votes and then they would elected us...otherwise......
