KL Chaotic, Police Detain 589 People Including 44 Youths

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 1 (Bernama) -- Police have detained 589 people including 44 youths below 18 years-old up to 11pm tonight, believed to have been involved in an Abolish the ISA Movements illegal rally in the city.
Kuala Lumpur CID Chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah said the 549 men and 40 women detained would be investigated under the 1967 Police Act.
"From the total, 27 are students and 20 of them were 17 years or below while the rest were from public and private Higher Learning Institutions whose ages ranged between 18 and 23," he said.
The arrested were among more than 10,000 supporters who began converging into the city as early at 7am and gathered at Masjid Jamek, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Kinabalu, Dataran Merdeka, before walking towards the Sogo shopping centre at 2pm to proceed to Istana Negara to submit a memorandum to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, calling for the abolishment of the ISA.
However, police managed to stop the rally from proceeding to the Istana Negara.

tunku : it's time authority to charged those arrested to the maximum.they have been told many time, you can make gathering in stadiums not on the streets.i think the government should allocate a place in the jungle for these monkeys to show their protest.when they protest in the streets, the business society and the public becomes the victims.the worst part is when the monkeys bring their children together to protest.well what to say to monkeys as they can't think like human.

Tunku,

Some suggestions to the Home Ministry for those 589 detained.

To the 545 Adult-protesters.

1. Stop them from voting in the next GE.

2. Suspend from their jobs(if they have one) or have their salaries cut to payback losses caused on the traders and hawkers that day.

3. They plus all their family members will be watched 24/7 by non-uniformed police,to be free of surveillance only when deemed fit.

4. Their employers to be told not to pay increment or promotion for the next 3 years.

5. No means of communications whatsoever to relatives or friends. All housephones, hphones to be confiscated.Any means of communications (only on matters of life or death)should be vet by the Police.

To the 44 Youths;

1. Definitely take away their hphones,ipods,walkman etc.etc.

2. No watching TV programmes, listening to radio programmes, movies or concerts for 1 year.

3. Parents to ensure they are grounded (but they can still attend schools or colleges)unless otherwise as ordered by the police.

4. Parents of the 44 youths are to cooperate if they don't want to end up like the 545 adults above, eventhough they did not partake in the protest.

5. To Teachers and Lectures gave them tons of homeworks and assignments.

All the above are social pressures , to be impossed on them and only to be lifted when they showed some remorse after what they'd done.

Footnote: Tunku, do you think you could pass this down to Menteri Lentok Hishamuddin? Thanks.

Yeah

reserve a stadium in a remote part of Malaysia for such a purpose because this street demo has become a new form of sports

they can run, shout at the top of their voices, they can also wear all coloured shirts and wave all kinds of banners

as for those detained, interrogate them thoroughly as to WHY they participate

if there is a form of bribes, catch the briber and charge in court

tunku,
Some thought to ensure no more demo in future. These people only understand the RM penalty. No more advice or warning.
1. all the shop onwers should file summons for the loss to the demo organiser.
2. The taxi, bus and LRT operators should also file the summon for the loss to the demo organiser.
3. The members of public should also file summon for loss of their right to go to work and shopping peacefully to the demo organiser.
4. Employers too need to file a summon for the loss of productivity hours and interrupt the production run.
5. The majlis should ask for the compensation from the demo organiser due to damage of public properties and clearing waste.
