I'm Not Playing Any Role In LIMA, Says Tun Dr Mahathir

LANGKAWI, Dec 6 (Bernama) -- Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he has already retired and is not playing any role in enhancing the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) exhibition.
He said this year's LIMA was the biggest ever held since its inception in 1991.
"I've already retired and not playing any role," he told reporters after touring the maritime segment of LIMA 2007 with his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamed Ali at Awana Porto Malai here today.
Dr Mahathir and Dr Siti Hasmah were accompanied by Vice-Admiral (Rtd) Tan Sri Abdul Wahab Nawi, chairman of HW LIMA Sdn Bhd, maritime segment organiser.
Dr Mahathir spent about two hours touring the exhibition including having a video teleconferencing with the crew on board Royal Malaysian Navy's "Tunas Samudera" which is circumnavigating the globe.
He spoke for two minutes with Tunas Samudera commander Capt Rusdi Idrus and wished them good luck.
A brainchild of Tun Dr Mahathir, his successor, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, had promised that LIMA '07 would be an integral part of the nation's and defence itinerary, significant with the nation's 50th independence anniversary.
