Tun Dr Mahathir continues to improve

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 (Bernama) -- Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who is still warded at the National Heart Institute's (IJN) intensive care unit continues to show improvement, even enjoying home-cooked food, following surgery recently.
IJN, in a statement Thursday said Dr Mahathir, 81, was spending more time sitting up as he continued to gain strength to recover after 11 days in post-surgical rehabilitation.
"He is now able to consume home-cooked food as it is vital for Dr Mahathir to continue to get good nutrition to build his strength.
"IJN doctors are happy that his parameters continue to be stable and he will continue to be warded at the ICU," it said.

PETALING JAYA: He is looking less like a post-operation patient and more like a regular one, says Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir of her father Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
This is “really a blessing,” she said in her blog www.rantingsbymm.blogspot.com/.
“Mum is reporting that everything is going OK in the ICU,” she noted.
Her mother Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali had ensured that Dr Mahathir gets a good sleep by putting on some subliminal music.
“You know, the sounds of the sea, whales, running streams, that sort of thing.
“Apparently it works so well that she and the night staff tend to nod off even faster than dad!” Marina said.
She added that Dr Mahathir had “a very Kedah flavour” for breakfast as he tucked into “kekaras with toasted almond slices and hot milk”.
She described kekaras as “a kind of crispy biscuity thing.”
