Seats Allocation Should Be Done The BN Way, Says Khairy

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 (Bernama) -- The allocation of seats for the upcoming general election among Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties should be done the BN way, BN Youth deputy chairman Khairy Jamaluddin said today.
"The BN's way is that we discuss and compromise," he told reporters after chairing a special meeting on the "Merdeka Youth Gathering" to be organised by the BN Youth, here.
He was asked to comment on the statement by People's Progressive Party (PPP) president Datuk M. Kayveas that the party would not hesitate to leave the BN if it was not given the seats it asked for.
On the Merdeka Youth Gathering to be held on Aug 26, he said it was aimed at launching the election machinery of the BN Youth.
A total of 4,000 BN Youth members are expected to attend the event.
"At the gathering, BN Youth chairman Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein will read out a pledge of the BN Youth and it will also touch on activities targeted for the next 50 years," he said, adding that following the event, all BN Youth members would wear a special wrist band until the election is over.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will be the guest-of- honour at the gathering, which would be held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre here.
