We just want to see justice done: Kugan’s family

PUCHONG: The family of suspected car thief A. Kugan who died in police custody last Tuesday just wants to see justice done and the truth surrounding his death come to light.
His uncle, Ravi Roy, 42, said that the family was not blaming the police force for Kugan’s death, but was merely seeking the truth.
“We are not blaming the entire police force, all we want is for the people who are responsible to be brought to justice,” he said at the Bandar Kinrara home here of Kugan’s parents on Monday.
Kugan collapsed and died during questioning at the Taipan police station in Subang Jaya on Dec 20. An initial post-mortem wrote off his death as involving “no foul play,” saying he had died due to fluid in his lungs but not offering an explanation of how this happened.
However, after Kugan’s family entered the Serdang Hospital mortuary that same day and took photographs of his body, which showed severe bruising, the Attorney-General asked police to re-classify the case as murder.
A second post-mortem was conducted last Sunday, although the report is not out yet.
The 22-year-old is scheduled to be buried at the Puchong crematorium at 2pm on Wednesday. Ravi said the family has been waiting anxiously to lay him to rest as they felt uncomfortable keeping the body in a mortuary for so long.
“However, we had no choice as his body is the only evidence we have on what happened to him,” he said.
Although relieved at finally being able to bury Kugan’s body, Ravi said the family would not rest until those responsible are identified and brought to justice.

tunku : by all means we want JUSTICE for Kugan's death. It is very sad that we have some "bad cops" in our police force. They must be punished and charged under 302 without any doubt.I am very sure Kugan's family will see justice is done. Then again we hope that Kugan's family will not be easily used by some quarters/politicians/groups for their own political mileage.people like anwar, lim kit siang, gobind singh etc should not take this as a political thing.they should be responsible enough to control the situation as things can go bad and that is the last thing we want to see. The PDRM is doing their best, the ministers had gave the assurance. We hope that the procession today is according the the Hindu rituals and rites and not a demonstration.do not make thing worst. This case has nothing to do with race or politics. It is a pure murder case.I would want to thank T Murugiah and Devamany. They had done their best to control the situation earlier. Now let the law do it's part.We do not have to take the law in our own hands. The police too must take this matter as their top priorities and charge the culprits asap.everyone must exercise restraint and be calm. let us all wait for the investigation to be completed

It is sad to read this. Why must a suspect be treated like this? Just imagine if this were to happen to our family members. We too would not be able to control our emotions. This incident has affected the BN and the country terribly. At this time when BN is having a very low morale, this event has made a big mood swing for the opposition. Whether we like it or not, the opposition has made a lot more gain because of this incident. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family. May Kugan's soul rest in peace. We hope that this would not happen again in the country. We condemned the US for their treatments of prisoners and here at our door-step we see an ugly episode. There has to be justice. Islam abhors crime of this nature.

Like it or not, it has been turned racial, just look at the politicians, from both sides involved.

What I do realise is that nobody looked at the root cause, how he came in contact with police?

While police brutality must be abhored, this chap had earlier led police to 15 stolen cars.

Imagine how would the 15 different individuals or families felt being made miserable when their cars were stolen.

Now he has been made a hero, without him knowing!

that is true, while we know that some police man did wrong thing, but let us not forget that kugan is a criminal and not a national hero that he need procession for his burial.since when we gives our respect to criminals?

This 22 year old boy is a suspect in Luxury car theft. Many indian boys his age are doing car wash , tarik kereta, parking , car towing for a decent living. They are not criminals.
Some comments here are already saying that he is a criminal just because the police suspected him being involved. Well you know for sure who are protecting the real criminals.
A 22 year old boy cannot steal a luxury car or easily dispose it .
Check who is the Boss. It is always big Chinese syndicates. They owned car workshops whereby stolen cars are canibilsed, modified, repaineted ..etc and finally exported to other countries.
who own shipping companies, containers . This crooks work along the JPJ, Custom & Police.
Poor indian youths are employed by these crooks. When caught they die in custody. If the big bosses are ever caught , they get buang daerah sahaja.
so my conclusion Kugan has to be silenced in order to protect those who feed the powers that be.
Nobody needs a procession. All we need is justice. The police should not kill a suspect or allow other elements to enter the lock-up and finish off the living evidence.

Friends

A suspect is a suspect until there is evidence against him. This is a matter of law. Even Sadam Hussein (alledged to have committed atrocities to the people of Iraq) was trialed in court before he was found guilty and later hanged. We cannot treat a suspect like this. This is totally unIslamic. Our prophet reminded us that 'exploit not any human being, as they are Allah's creation just like any other creation.' Islam abhors prejudice against any of Allah's creation. If a suspect can be treated like this, then any other suspect - Malay, chinese or Indian can end up like this. Then the country ends up becoing lawless. Islam does not condone this at all. We cannot pass a judgement on a suspect like this. This is too cruel a treatment. Kugan is not a hero but the way he was treated while being detained made him a hero. The problem with our country is, issues like this can quickly be politicised, though many sympathisers from the opposition may not be sincere. The fact that it is wrong to make a suspect die while being detained is enough to make the opposition get more support. As it is, BN is at a very low ebb. With this incident the ebb would without doubt go lower. The remedy to this is far too remote... Not all cops are bad - the bad apples have spoilt our image. Kerana nila setitik rosak susu sebelangga.

Polis silap besar.

just to drop by & cleared some misleading facts..

somewhere i heard some moron telling everybody with his own version of story that kugan get beaten for towing a policeman car..

the fact is, arm forces like army & police are not eligible to take loans from commercial banks..they can't even apply for credit cards due to their nature of works..

policemen only can take loan from their koperasi polis or govt loan where the monthly installment automatically deducted from their monthly pay..

so the story about kugan towing a policeman's car is totally a bullshit trying to provoke racial sentiments!

if the policemen involvde are guilty, let the law take its course ..use legal channel..

..unless you people are thinking of bringing this nation down to the state of anarchy ...

..where at the end there will never be a true winner but the minority surely will suffer even more worst..always think before you act..

(anti tipu fakta)
