Najib's message: Greater efficiency and accountability

PETALING JAYA: The Government is poised to implement various changes and improvement in 2009 in response to the calls from the rakyat (people) for greater efficiency and accountability.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Razak said the year ahead would likely see many changes taking place, all of which were geared towards fulfilling the people’s aspirations and taking Malaysia fully into the 21st century.
“Challenging though the prospects may be (in 2009), a new year brings with it the promise of hope and renewal,” he said in his new year message posted at www.1malaysia.com.my, a website dedicated to highlighting his views and activities.
Najib said the still unfolding global economic crisis remained the most pressing challenge for the country and to prepare for that, the Government was ready to introduce additional stimulus measures if and when the need arose.
This, he said, was in addition to the efforts already put in place including a targeted stimuli package, income enhancement measures, guaranteeing the people’s saving deposits and price reduction campaigns, which were collectively aimed at boosting the country’s economic engine.
“Although Malaysia is well-prepared to meet the challenges brought about by the economic crisis, the reality is that it began out of our control and the depth of its impact will also be determined by outside forces.
“As the Government acts prudently and vigilantly in managing this problem from a macro perspective, I ask each of us to reflect on ways we, as individuals, can better economically prepare ourselves, our families and our communities in ensuring our economic liveability comforts for the coming year,” he added.
He noted that the establishment of his website four months ago was to explore Malaysia’s unique diversity and to celebrate the deifferent races and religions besides discussing the adjustments that needed to be made in order to create a stronger and unified Malaysia.
It was this diversity, he said, that had enabled the country to both respond to change and create positive improvements through unified voices.
“And those voices are absolutely critical at this juncture as our nation faces significant challenges ahead,” he added.

A leader who is willing to listen from grass root people, read and analyse facts and ensure the changes are enforced and implement effectively.

He can be a great leader.

Whereas a leader, said something, do another will not be respected and supported.
