Ipoh Barat Acting Umno Youth Chief Voices Support For Najib, Mukhriz

IPOH, April 10 (Bernama) -- Ipoh Barat acting Umno Youth chief Ahmad Faizal Azumu Thursday expressed his undivided support for Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as candidate for the party president's post.
He also voiced his full support for Datuk Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir to contest the Umno Youth chief's post, to replace Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein who recently announced that he would not seek re-election to the post.
"The leadership qualities, courage and wisdom of these two leaders (Najib and Mukhriz) are respected by friends and foes. Their courteous disposition will help regain the people's interest and support for Umno and the Barisan Nasional," he said in a statement to Bernama here Thursday.
Ahmad Faizal said he did not mean to show disrespect to the party's current top leader but his personal views were based on the views of party members and the people.

"My support for the two leaders (Najib and Mukhriz) are expressed in the spirit of democracy and love for the party," he added.
However, Ahmad Faizal said, he also welcomed the expressed personal support of the Perak and Negeri Sembilan Umno Youth chiefs for Khairy Jamaluddin to replace Hishammuddin as party Youth chief.
These differing views should be seen as a healthy development in Umno, as the two had openly voiced their support for Khairy whom they saw as a leader who could bring betterment to the movement and party.
"This is the kind of spirit needed in Umno, that is, the process of choosing the party leaders based on the wishes of the grassroots is made without pressure from any quarters.
"But the statements of support cannot be regarded as the wishes of the majority of Umno Youth members but made in our personal capacity as leaders at the divisional and state levels.
"The real wishes of the party members can only clearly be seen in the coming party elections," he said.
