Mukhriz to become Sungai Limau adopted rep if BN wins

Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir has announced that he would become the adopted state assemblyman for Sungai Limau if the Barisan Nasional wins the state-by-election next Monday.

He said if the voters were to give Barisan the mandate, they would not only get Barisan's candidate, Dr Ahmad Sohaimi, as their new assemblyman, but also a Mentri Besar as their adopted assemblyman who would give special attention to them.

Mukhriz, who is also Kedah Barisan chairman , said the situation would be in line with PAS' slogan of 'Kekal' (Retain), where the people of Sungai Limau had special attention from a Mentri Besar after former Sungai Limau assemblyman, the late Tan Sri Azizan Abdul Razak, was appointed as the Mentri Besar after the 12th general election.

He said this to reporters at around midnight at his adopted family home in Permatang Buluh near here, where he spent the night Thursday.

"Our opponent (PAS) is using the 'Retain' slogan, I just don't understand.

Yes, they used to have an assemblyman who was also a Mentri Besar, but if they want to retain the seat for PAS candidate, the constituency will get an assemblyman, who is representing the opposition. There is a big difference there.

"So, I call on the voters to give the mandate to BN. When they have an assemblyman from the ruling government, and myself as their adopted assemblyman, they will be much closer to retaining the status quo," he said.

On the remaining three-day campaign period, Mukhriz said the campaign was running smoothly so far as the BN election machinery had acted quickly in solving any problems faced by the local residents.

"Right now, we want to make sure that our staff understand their duties on the polling day on Monday because we want the election machinery to be on their top forms, especially in terms of luring the voters to cast their votes as early as possible," he said.

The Sungai Limau by-election is being held following the death of Azizan on Sept 26.
The contest for the state seat is a straight fight between Ahmad Sohaimi and PAS candidate Mohd Azam Abdul Samat.

This is the man. Giving out of the box idea rather than using money (old and cheap strategy used by our TPM) to attract voters.
